David Cameron's Eton Toffs Posse in Downing Street who haven't a clue what its like to live in an inner city with over estate with over 60% on benefits of some kind.
Surely all the youths had equal chance of education, but many could not be bothered to go to school. It is how the people spend their benefit money makes my blood boil - fags, drugs and drink.

Pensioners don't have much to live on, but they know how to make proper meals and don't riot and loot.

I was behind a lady (who I knew) at the bakers this morning, she has three children, separated from her husband. She spent £11.92 on pasties, pop, sausage rolls (rubbish) to take to the beach. She could have bought a loaf of bread and made sandwiches - her and her husband both have houses which we subsidise and he could work, lazy sod.

His crowning achievement was improving public transport in London, not playing with his newts. I presume you don't use public transport or you would have noticed.

The stop and search tactics do indeed seem to be a bone of contention among those who rioted. So it seems he may have been insightful about that as well.

What Bendy Buses ? They caused so many accidents especially to cyclists and another point no one paid to travel on them ! I use public transport every day in London as i am a pensioner too.The only good thing Boris did was get rid of them.I supported Ken Livingstone in the 80s when Maggy got rid of County Hall, but not anymore. He was the idiot who gave free bus travel to school children so they could travel around London stabbing each other in gang fights.Remember Victoria Station concourse murder ? Your right about junk food though.Greggs should be banned from being 500 yards from any school. I watch them every morning when its term time buying doughnuts and sticky cakes for breakfast because their parents cant be bothered to even give them a bowl of cereal or toast. No wonder they are rioting its because they are so full of additives their brains have collected rotted. There is a good case for bringing back school meals here.At least they were balanced and nutritious unlike chicken nuggets and chips for £1.50 they do for the school kids here in Islington.

YOU are quite right there PJ - parents could feed a family of 4 proper food for £1.50 a night.

It seems everybody has views on why there is this unrest in society but what is the answer? In no more than 100 words, give or take, what do you think could be done to restore the country's karma?

British public supports harsher sentences over riots

Seven in 10 people say those convicted of riot-related offences should get tougher sentences than they would normally expect

Discipline at home, and in school without PC people sticking their oar in.
Respect to others and their property.

But they are the exception that proves the rule, whereas the economically prosperous classes are also full of not-very-bright, lazy, irresponsible people who simply by virtue of their accident of birth never have to be in any way exceptional in order to find themselves at least half-way decently provided for in decent surroundings. Again, this is why we don't have middle class riots and looting, though we have plenty of middle class crime and no-one suggests hitting them with big sticks or taking away their sources of income by law. The concept of the "deserving" and "undeserving" poor is thoroughly Victorian, and we really ought to be further along than that, I think.
Uhmm - I do not advocate different consequence according to class.
There is a significant percentage of those from the middle classes, brought up with wealth and a decent home background, who turn to the life of alcoholism and drugs, or choose to turn to acquisative crime or drug dealing, or engage in casual sexual relations without forethought, thereby ending up with unplanned kids and dependency on benefits.

Same for same as far as I am concerned - forget class !

And how do you propose doing this greater division of wealth. Tax the very high earners a lot more - been done in the past, they just go and live elsewhere as they did until the 1980's so as not to pay the high rate of tax. 40% of something is a lot more than 95% of nothing. Before an earlier Labour government tried to make a one size fits all education system (comprehensive schools) there were technical schools, my brother went to one then into a five year apprenticeship which paid a very low wage while he served his time. How many of todays young would accept that sort of training and low wage if it was still available?

There certainly is a right to a family. However, there's nothing in those provisions to force a father to be a father -- that was purely prestonjohn's new invention.

Dear Mr. Cameron ,

Please find below our suggestion for fixing the UK 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week .....
And there's your money back in duty/tax etc

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

Also………..
Let's put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.

They'd receive unlimited free prescriptions , dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc and they'd receive money instead of paying it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.

Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.

A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell.

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.

They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counselling, pool and education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free, on request.

Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens.

Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls.

There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised. Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week. Live in a tiny room and pay £600.00 per week and have no hope of ever getting out.

Think about this (more points of contention):

COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Appleby almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the county of Cumbria?

And, they even tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 125,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

Also;
Think about this ... If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It is time for us grumpy old folk of Britain to speak up!

i agree tax is a bitter pill indeed for the better off and something they seem to be able to spend heaps of money trying to avoid .The scandinavian countrys are supposed to be one of the better places to live with a fairer system for all ,their tax system is higher than ours .
Lower tax system certainly for business certainly hasnt helped ireland ,look at the state of their economy now , i bet a fair few businesses have left too .
Is it something about the sycie of the british isles and the united states that only makes people think of the individual?
There is so much wrong with the system these days where even low paid work is subject to 20 hour contracts just to save big business its contributions on NI , there are no real jobs at the lower end of the scale .
But to be honest because im no financial wizard and im not a politician ,i really dont know the answer to what your saying , its way too complex for me or i would say us to sort out .
All i do know is money talks ,if a political party offers more to you and your family then youll vote for them but if a party says we have to do this and that for the greater good of all ,it gets blown out the water .Its human nature ,we are greedy .
