Don't fret AJ, I copied them and PM'd them to Dread earlier today, in anticipation of this, and in case you are not entitled to the hallowed right to PM yet

Hi Slagtip

First of all welcome to BE and the Goa forum.

This news is very encouraging indeed. In fact it is noticable from the information I am receiving that there is a seemingly 180 degree swing in attitudes of the Goan officialdom, which seems to have followed since the full on involvement of the British High Commission.

Pass on my best to your friends and thank you for sharing this information

Well that's very good news for your friends, I'm very pleased for them, and it's very kind of the RBI - considering that FERA rules don't apply any more and FEMA states quite clearly that your friends don't need RBI permission to sell (as long as they had permission to buy.
But what the heck, that's only the law!

Welcome back to BE - thank you for posting this - I looks as if things are
changing for the better.

Neighbours have been recalled to the D of E. Took their previous file with them together with their lawyer. After a chat with the D of E guy, they were told to go home and stop worrying, enjoy their retirement in Goa and that THEY HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG.
AS they had purchased on an X visa and everything else was in order.

Hi Slagtip,

Did they received only the permission from RBI (it is not clear why they should need also this permission to sell...), or the final approval from Mapusa Registrar ?

They were under the impression that they needed the RBI,s permission to sell, they visited there head office personally in Mumbai, spoke to the head man who gave them an agreement to sell certificate to take to the Mapusa registrar, this worked, the sale has been completed and the money repatriat

Whatever the rules do or don;t say matters not.... the fact is that the process your friends took worked and they sold and got the their monies out...... and that's what counts in the end.

Thanks, Slagtip,

as far as I know the subregistrar seems to be the the most difficult step to overcome, this is a very, very good news

Bye
