I think it is also because the Hijras can be quite aggressive and try to cause trouble (how else would they get money?). Particularly baby naming ceremonies/weddings they can try to 'gate crash' to give 'blessings'.

... over 2,800 on each flight - blöödy hell these new planes are bigger than I thought!

"The substantial increase in the airfare and 20 per cent increase in the travel packages due to various taxes combined, including luxury and entertainment taxes, have mainly contributed to this grim scenario,"
So nothing to do with garbage, murder, rape, garbage, rip-off taxis, no sunbeds, garbage, no infrastructure, persecuting people who bought property, or garbage then?

& it would be just my luck for the plane to have landed just after a Russian 747, to be sat in the last row but one on a full flight that only used front stairs to exit. . . . . . . .

Thomson have apparently 'got' or are getting a Dreamliner but in the adverts I've seen featuring said Dreamliner, it only talks about routes to Orlando & the Caribbean - no mention of Goa.

NOT IN NORTH GOA.............. !!!
I have asked several people why they pay the trannies and several stated that it is purely superstition because they believe not paying will bring bad karma. Exactly the same superstition is applied to the beggars who are often dressed in yellow/orange and carry a model religious deity around.

This makes very interesting reading about how women are treated around the world..

http://www.trust.org/trustlaw/news/p...n-india-worst/

It is quite shameful and the sad murder of this young woman only goes to show how bad it is here for women in general.

Will anything change??

77,021 divided by 27 equals 2852 passengers per aircraft ! Must be bloody huge planes or is this another example of Goan Mathematics....? Works out much better if the arrivals were 7721 divided by 27 equals 285 passengers per plane......Thats more realistic.

Arrivals down, hotels empty: Michael Lobo

30 Dec: Herald. As Goa tourist season peaks around Christmas-New Year festivities, hospitality business particularly in North Goa has witnessed a drastic 30 per cent drop … Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo, spoke out against the garbage menace and lack of basic infrastructure,.. Commenting on the kind of domestic tourists coming to Goa, he said that bus loads of tourists have been coming from neighbouring states and camping in fields causing a nuisance

this is what we have been saying! so a local agrees with us.

www.goanvoice.org.uk

and then we get the politicians views !!!

Parrikar contradicts Lobo, says arrivals up by 21 percent

30 Dec: Herald. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that there has been an increase in arrival of tourists of all classes to the tune of 15-20 per cent over previous tourist season…

Re: In To-day's Newspapers

They could well both be right - if loads of people are coming and camping in fields then you would have increased numbers of tourists but empty hotels.
My own subjective impression is that there are comparatively very few northern Europeans here so far this year.
