Despite the usual reluctance of the Goan media to name any company or commercial establishment they are reporting on, (why is that?), I can assure you it is Vrundavan in Mapusa........... again.

The Co-Operative Banks are a joke - a licence to trouser other people's money and a route to filter utility bill money to politicians and friends.
The national banks are a bit safer - and if one of those folded at least in India the depositors would get out the pitchforks and flaming torches!

And that will help a foreigner with money in it?
(Assuming they have a valid visa 12 months a year to comply with government rules for running a bank account)
.....assuming tourist visa, of course

India cops blasted over 71 Brit deaths
3 Jun: Daily Star (UK). AT least 70 British tourists have been murdered on holiday in India but not one of their killers has been caught… The revelation came as a British Euro MP investigated the death of one of his constituents. Denyse Sweeney, 34, died in Goa two years ago, with police putting her death down to drink or drugs. But tests later showed no trace of alcohol or drugs. And it also emerged the mum-of-two from Derby had 20 unexplained bruises on her body…

Finally, River Princess ‘ leaves’ Candolim shores
3 Jun: Herald. After remaining steadfast off the Candolim coast and remaining grounded for over a decade, ' River Princess' was finally removed from the sea on Saturday, four days ahead of what would have been its 12th anniversary

Filthy beaches tick off Calangute MLA

5 Jun: Times of India. Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has complained to tourism minister Dilip Parulekar about the heaps of garbage lying on the beach near the Calangute Residency… 'All the beaches in my constituency- Candolim, Calangute and Baga are very filthy with garbage and plastic waste,' the letter stated… Tourism director Swapnil Naik said, "We are trying to appoint one agency to collect garbage from all the beaches, but the process has been held up because of the unavailability of garbage treatment plants

www.goanvoice.org.uk

Initiatives aside, Goa lags in waste management

5 Jun: Times of India. Goa's garbage management programme continues to struggle despite several useful initiatives as collection and segregation of waste by multiple agencies is not tied to a scientific disposal and recycling system, sources said… Goa produces an estimated 400 tonnes of garbage per day…

Police warn of an Asian gold rush as thieves prepare to target private homes for valuable wedding gifts
Many towns and cities are already being targetted - in Slough, for example, Asian gold thefts totalled more than 300 last year, a third of all burglary offences reported to police.

Everyone who rushed to welcome the BJP victory in Goa might take pause for thought from this:

Shivprasad Joshi, a leader of Hindu Mahasabha, claimed that the convention could be held smoothly due to rule of BJP-led government in the state. “If it was government of some other party, they would have worked overtime to disrupt it,” he commented.

So here they come out of the woodwork. An even more vapid gnawing at anything 'foreign' can be expected to replace subtle manipulative cunning. Goa is THE ideal location for such an organisation because it is fractured at so many levels.
