I've noticed when reporting a story the DM often brings the value of a person's property into the story. What that has to do with the price of fish I don't know.

Maybe a paedophile who lives in a 150k house should be viewed differently than one who lives in a 250k house in the DM's opinion? It's one of their odd hallmarks for their particularly skewed philosophy on life.

It's time to stop using the word 'Asians' 8 Jun: The Telegraph (UK). In the wake of the Rochdale grooming convictions, it's time to stop lumping Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus together as 'Asians', argues Hardeep Singh

This will please some of the people.

Thank you Noni I hadn't read this.

Your friend J5 objected to being called European, and insisted he was British or English; see post 5336.
So I am sure you would agree it is likely to be the same for those from the many countries of the continent of Asia. They would surely want to have their individual countries of origin recognised.

This report mentions religion. I would suppose the average Christian wouldn't want to be lumped together with the paedophile priests.

What are your views?

I would suppose the average Christian wouldn't want to be lumped together with the paedophile priests.
or far more accurately in this context;

The average Protestant Christian wouldn't want to be lumped together with the almost exclusively Catholic Christian paedophile priests.

(referring to "what type of Asian")

Highland is not the hotel in question.

Will pm you the name of the place !

Been going on for years - and not just in India either
there have been numerous reports showing similar things.

Aware of that Dread; this seemed particularly unpleasant, and having just seen the report on TV and knowing the Thane area just thought of mentioning it.

(Incidentally Bhupathi and Mirza won the mixed doubles)

In Goa, the old "communidade" system of civil governance provided for 'on the ground' checks and balances so that everything that impacted people (at village, or taluk and even at state) level was conducted with some justice. Changes mandated to reflect other Indian states ignore the Goan historically effective systems, and one can see the 'Thane factor" creeping in. Instead of food distribution to the needy, it is waste management, old age care and land exploitation.

From personal experience though, still riddled with corruption.

But then, almost everything in India is.........

Sadly it also happens a lot closer to home. At the Casa Pia children's homes in Portugal - Food donated for the Children was sold on as a matter of course. It will probably come as no great surprise that the homes, operated by Priests and Monks from the Catholic Church, supplemented there income by prostituting the young boys at the homes to a client list of the great and the good; politicians, TV presenters, high ranking police officers etc etc. After many years there have been convictions, but not nearly enough.

Charity now has become big business and is losing it's true meaning - so much of the money people give is 'diverted' in one way or the other. I will no longer give to organised charities for this reason - but will go directly to where the money is needed and donate it there.

As for any guardian of children who prostitutes them, abuses them or neglects them, they should be strung up by thier bollocks and left to die a long slow painful death !!
