Property Tax on second homes ! $5000 to $10,000 per second home ! I think the Goan Government will find this little scam unenforceable and quite illegal. Its just another headline grabber from another brain dead Goan politician. Its mentioned on Goan Voice at the top on the left hand side. Can you imagine Mr.Kingfisher paying taxes on his two homes in Goa when he cannot even pay the fuel bill for his planes....!

Relaxed visa rules "for Russians alone"

Yeah only Russians get 6 month visas - except that Brits get 6/12 month visas and [North] Americans get 5/12 year visas.... but why let the facts spoil a good story!

Thank you Andy for this one elsewhere.....

For sure we will hear "but what about the UK?"

But can you imagine any civilised country needing to write to all its foreign missions with instructions to stop being so corrupt, AND feeling the need to publicise the fact?

Take note Dharavi, Bandra and all the other slums. This is quite frightening to say the least.

Did a tour around Dharavi 3 yrs ago ...cleaner than mapusa ...they pay a lot of money for a small dwelling there...totally self -sufficient...schools...shops...industry...drs....d efinitlely not my definition of a slum!!

And yes the money paid for these small group tours helps finance the school and medical facilities...

I cannot really comment because I've never been but I did watch the Kevin McLeod documentary 'slumming it'. I have to say, from what I seen it was definitely a slum but very self sufficient.

Slum Tourism was a by product of that book by Gregory, Shantaram.Outside of Leopolds there is a sign on the wall advertising trips to the slum. Some people actually believe that the events in the book are real, when in fact its a book of fiction. If you go into Waterstones its shelved under fiction.Biggest load of rubbish i have ever read on India. I used to watch him sitting in the corner of Leopolds lording it up to the Mumbai literati farti. The worst thing was Leoplds put up the price of draught London Pilsner by a 100 Rps because of that swine !

I stay in Bandra West quite often, hardly a slum, in fact property prices there are higher than most of london.

Got to agree with you. Our country went to war twice in the last century so that the Germans could not take over Europe, now they are taking over without a war and adding insult to injury by taxing compensations which they took almost 60 years to pay out.

Disgusting ! Compensation for the horrors those people suffered at the hands of the Nazis should be non taxable.

Seems to me that we may as well not have fought 2 world wars - Germany seems to be taking over Europe anyway !
