Those like me who don`t live on a complex burn what we can, recycle what we can(via the bicycle boys) and take the rest to the recycling depot in Mapusa and food waste is either composted or given to neighbours to feed their pigs!

Who needs all these bins!

1. We can discuss anything on this site.

2. You are only partly right about our garbage, some is burnt, tins and plastic are collected by the "rag people", Left over food is given to the Staff any boxes, old clothes etc are given to the poor.

If you were in the UK would you like 9 bins outside houses?

It's journalists inventing a story.

The fact behind the story is that the Campaign for Real Recycling has been granted the right to a judicial review of the Government’s compliance with a revised EU Waste Framework Directive.

You may or may not get 9 bins were CCR to prevail. That bit seems to be conjecture at best.

That is what we want msj5 - participation and discussion.

What do you think the eviction of the Gypsies at Dale Farm has been postponed, after the council wasting thousands and thousands of pounds, in court cases and the cost of extra policing.
How can these people say it is "Racist" and infringes their "Human Rights"?

I'm not sure it will be actual 'bins', we already have 7 separate 'containers', ordinary bin, garden waste bin, red box for glass and tin, the latter has plastic bag for newspapers, and bag for textiles. Separately we have also strong bag for cardboard and thin plastic sac for plastics. It doesn't seem to be a problem only the first 2 kept outside, except on collection day.

In India it is bury, burn or give away. In some areas of India eg Pune they are starting, at appartment blocks vermiculture for 'wet' stuff, and residents use the compost formed for their window boxes etc.

That said, I personally would rather discuss Goa and India!! We can discuss UK with anyone when we are in UK. Outside the family who is there to discuss India with?? This forum gives a very welcome chance to do that.

You seem to be suggesting we should bypass the courts. A very dangerous road to go down!

The court has made a decision -- there's an injunction preventing demolition till Friday.
