Tourism minister Nilkanth Halarnkar said that the allotment of shacks will be done by the end of August or early September this year after taking the concerned association into confidence. Speaking in the house on Thursday, he said that the issue would be settled early and that efforts are being made to allot more shacks in vacant spaces only if clearance is given by the GCZMA. He said that the department will try to cut down on advertisements and publicity gimmicks and will only issue them when needed. the concerned association into confidence. Apologies to anyone who feels I have no right to express an opinion. . |

Bill to restrict foreigners from buying land in Goa withdrawn
Speaker Pratapsing Rane granted leave to withdraw the Registration (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2008, in the Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The Bill was passed more than two years back to restrict foreigners from buying land in Goa. It had raised eyebrows after it was passed in the Assembly. It may be recalled Dayanand Narvekar, who was then Law Minister, had asserted the bill meant to “ban†foreigners from buying properties in the State didn’t mention anywhere its intentions of banning foreigners from buying land. He had maintained there was no mention of foreigners in the bill. Since it was a Central Act, the Union Home Ministry didn’t agree to the amendment www.goanvoice.org.uk/ |

Russia: All in Goa
23 Jul: Tourinfo (Russia). Goa is going to be a “hot†destination this winter ... The volume of air transportation to Goa, is estimated to at least double this season with more than three thousand seats a week. There are rumours that it could be higher ... the greatest difficulty in working with Goa is the limited base of high category hotel room. www.goanvoice.org.uk India: Beach Dress Code 23 Jul: Jezt.de (Germany)... In areas popular with Western tourists, the dress code is relatively liberal and bikinis are no problem ... the recent campaign by the Tourism authorities in Goa is more a reaction to complaints of older tourists. Now topless bikini is prohibited to the Goa beaches and the even hippies have to cover up ... |

Was it always understood that filling in a pro-forma would lead to some sort of hearing and, hopefully, a decision of some sort? If so I must have missed the bit where this was explained, I thought the pro-formas were being forwarded to the BHC in the first instance, and I had wondered whether this was to allow them to be anonymised. Someone please remind me exactly what is supposed to be happening (I haven't filled in my pro-forma yet, but I am planning to do so unless circumstances change). AndyD 8-)# AndyD 8-)# |

This has made me so mad - why on earth do they take money from those injured who have risked their lives for us in Afganistan, and give to immigrants who come over here to live. Today's Daily Telegraph (sorry haven't got the proper link) Quote " India's 700 Companies in the UK are our largest job creators" |

'Green Goa Clean Goa' The committee, headed by Babu Kavlekar of the ruling Congress-led
coalition, also asked the state government to initiate proper measures to dispose sewage, garbage and oil. Goa's floating casinos dumping sewage into river: Panel sify.com A legislative panel has slammed the Goa government for allowing offshore casinos and cruise vessels to dump raw sewage into the Mandovi river that runs by this state capital. The committee is... this is now on facebook!!! this is what the outside world think of Goa, I have seen unfortunately nothing positive. The other story on there is the murder of Nadia etc. It has got to be up to Goa to reinvent itself and learn from the negative publicity. Except we love the place warts and all. |

In the interim you may be thrown off the Mandovi Bridge into it's pristine waters; if you manage to swim ashore you are without doubt a nasty law breaking thieving foreigner who sought to pollute the cultural purity of Mother Goa with your unwelcome foreign exchange and nefarious property purchase, guilty as charged; if you drown, you most likely abided by the law in total innocence and sought only to eke out a peaceful and harmonious existence in Goa and since you are now dead you will at least have the consolation of eternal abode within the celestial Housing Complex that is the residence of our saviour, St. Francis Xavier who has the divine detergent to cleanse all our sins. It is reassuring and hugely magnanimous of the British Government that an official from the British High Commission (India) will be present as you offer yourself up for the trial. Nobody expects the Inquisition! |

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/in...verhaul/651200 More red tape on the way:eek: They could sell lists of who is in India at a particular time and we could all come home to find our houses have been burgled. Also, are they going to make it possible for those of us who own property to 'check in' and if they do not will we be flagged up as 'dodgy' and have problems getting our next visa's. No doubt these questions will be answered when the system is up and running, hopefully like most massive systems it will be long delayed like most of the big systems projects in the UK. |
