Read an article this morning about the conditions at Apnar Ghar, yet another of Goa's disgusting public disgraces of many years;

http://ibnlive.in.com/generalnewsfee...ty/707327.html

Something was nagging that made me re-visit the article, which describes the lack of virtually everything at this government run childrens home, and specifically a change of clothing.....yes each kid only has one set of clothes.

This morning I must have just dismissed it as a normal Goan disgrace, but something made me look again.
There are TEN kids in this home.....10 not a 100 or a thousand, and in the corrupt bribery ridden cess-pit that is Goa 2011, no-one can spare a few rupees out of their lakhs of "cream off" to buy 10 shirts and ten pairs of shorts, which would have meant this embarrassment would never have made the press and given the world another reason to look at the regime with the distaste it deserves.

Surely the "Gob-a-lot" politicians like Churchill, Mickky, Baboosh et al could deal with this and bask in the glory of it all?

Pitiful idiots

.

Totally agree with you. the politicians could easily sort these poor children. we all know how much clothes cost in Mapsa market.

Just seen "Asylum Amnesty" on the news - who was the main guy !Vasaline Vaz). Now if they keep their heads down 6 - 8 years they can stay.
Many of us have kept our heads down and our purses open for 9 years and are still being harrassed in India.

Much of it looted from India during the Raj :D (and please don't say that's history, many are still alive who lived during that time).

Noni can you clarify as I didn't hear the news and don't read the Mail.
1. How many of those allowed to stay are Indian?
2. From what I have read elsewhere Keith Vaz has described the UK Border
Agency as "still not fit for purpose" how is he responsible? (I don't support
Keith Vaz by the way). It seems to be gross inefficiency by last Gov. and
this one to allow such a 'back log'.
3. It took India a 100 years to get rid of the British last time, so you should
be alright. Difference this time is that you have the support
of ordinary Indian people. (At least all that I have spoken to.)

Let's have something positive for India today after all it's your country too.
Sania Mirza is in the womens doubles final at the French Open.

Don't know about Noni but I neither know or care how many were Indian. What's that got to do with anything? We're talking about asylum seekers not someone's race??

This is a Goan/Indian forum I thought it would be relevant. (Especially considering all the negative posts about Indians that appear).
How are non-Indian asylum seekers a subject for this forum?

So we cannot talk about anything on this forum unless it's about Goan/Indians?? I'm sorry, my apologies, I thought everyone was welcome to talk about anything. such as the 'gossip and chit chat' thread. Unbelievable!!!

You can talk about anything, what you had for Tea, etc. have a look at other forums, we are very Indian/Goan only. Others talk about everything and anything.

All I ask is that you keep the Stickies for their particular subject.

Heidi what is your problem today? You asked me why I mentioned Indians! Is that not relevant to this forum? Particularly after the prolonged 'discussion' on another thread.
I tried to bring in tennis, nobody has complained. So far :) What are your views on todays matches? I have been wasting an afternoon watching the amazing Schiavone on TV and answering e-mails.
