SCARY!!!!!:eek::eek: He must have worked for Kadamba before landing the airport job!
Airport coach rams into Jet Airways aircraft in Goa PTI | 10:10 PM,Oct 05,2010 Panaji, Oct 5 (PTI) A Bangalore-bound Jet Airways plane, with 136 passengers on board, was grounded today after an airport coach dashed into it at Goa airport here. However, all the passengers escaped unhurt but the aircraft suffered "superficial damages", airport officials said here. The incident occurred when an empty speeding airport coach, belonging to private air carrier Indigo, hit the ladder mounted on the plane and later rammed into the left wing before coming to a halt, they said. The passengers were transferred to another aircraft to take them to their destination. Krishna Lamani, the driver of the coach, told airport authorities that "he had a temporary loss of concentration" which resulted in the accident. The driver has been sent for a medical check-up to ascertain whether it was a case of drunken driving, they said. Airport coaches are not supposed to exceed a speed limit of 20 kmph, while Lamani was driving at the speed of 40-50 kmph, they added. The Directorate General Civil Aviation has initiated its probe into the incident, the officials said, adding a team is expected in Goa shortly. |

Note the final sentence. I wonder how many people have heard of this "brilliant policy".:rofl::rofl: Russian company in Goa appeals property confiscation Goa 20:15 05/10/2010 A Russian company in India has asked the authorities of the state of Goa to postpone their plans to confiscate its property, the company's lawyer said on Tuesday. "We have sent a petition to the first deputy head of the Goa state administration, in which we ask him to postpone the seizure until the case is considered by a court of appeal," Vikram Varma told RIA Novosti. In early September the Goa administration, on an instruction from fiscal bodies, decided to confiscate land plots owned by Russians and other foreigners over the violation of laws during the purchase and registration of real estate. The list of facilities subject to priority seizure includes a 20,000 sq m entertainment complex at Russian businessman Leonid Beyzer's True Axis Resorts Private Ltd. Varma said there are no legal grounds for the confiscation, as the violations in question are purely technical. The lawyer said the property seizure would "undermine the trust in the thoroughly implemented and brilliant policy of 'open doors' for foreign direct investment in India." Perhaps this Development Corporation had some insider knowledge about a shortfall in spectators at the CWG if they only printed 50,000 brochures & leaflets?
Goa kicks off its handicraft promotion campaign alongside CWG PTI | 01:10 PM,Oct 05,2010 Panaji, Oct 5 (PTI) In the backdrop of Common Wealth Games (CWG), Goa has began marketing its handicraft items in the national capital through a promotional campaign at metro stations and important locations there. The Goa government run Handicraft Corporation has designed special brochures and leaflets which blends the requirement of Delhi visitor to know about the Metro train and also provides information about various Goan handicraft items. Goa Handicraft Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (GHRSSIDC) Managing Director Nikhil Desai said almost 30,000 brochures and 20,000 leaflets will be distributed over a month during the Delhi Games. He said the promotion campaign funded by Central Development Commissioner for Handicraft has been timed with CWG and at the end of one month everyone will have one brochure or leaflet in their hand increasing the footfalls in the emporium run by the corporation in Delhi. The palm-sized brochures with Delhi Metro route maps printed on it are made available at various malls and stations in Delhi. Alongside the map, information about various artifacts that are available in Goa and their pictures are also printed. "We also foresee increase in the traffic on our website which has the facility to buy products online," the MD said. Central Development Commissioner for Handicraft has fuelled the campaign by sanctioning Rs 21 lakh for the first phase and Rs 46 lakh for the second phase. The campaign also includes putting up of hoardings at specific locations in the national capital. Handicraft items like hammocks, Azulejos tile painting, coconut craft and cultured ivory craft are carried on the brochures. |
Re: In To-day's Newspapers
So rigged terror threats to Goa is just a ploy to stop the tourists going to Goa, no mention of visa's or the property situation being a ploy to keep the foreigners out!!!.

What a damning article with regard to what has been in place for umpteen years! Even ignoring the fact that it appears to have been written by a langur with very little grasp of the English language? And why will things be any different with this new lot? Apart from their Wendell Rodricks designed frocks and their non-four wheel drive useless vehicles...... the system is in place, its just a new face to be bribed. It is abundantly clear that India thrives on hot-air......promises of what will be done (attacks on Bombay, garbage, corruption, Commonwealth Games, River Princess, garbage, corruption, attacks on tourists, off-shore (ha-ha) casinos, garbage, corruption, police/politician drugs nexus, Dabolim expansion, garba........etc) whilst the reality is, unless there is money in it for those responsible, NOTHING will be done. And even then, the absolute minimum. So dont hold your breath on the new Tourist Security Farce, same as, same as . |

From Vivek Menezes: Please check out the newest community media venture from Goanet ...Some of Goanet's very first members have decided to come together all over again, to try and harness the potential of a new generation of media technology for the benefit of our culture and community. We decided to launch an online review of art, culture, news and opinion pertaining to Goa and the Konkan... Some of the current content: Introduction to some of the columnists exclusive video:victor hugo gomes describes goa chitra harvest festival Check it out at http://www.tambdimati.com/ and bookmark the site Athletes play risque games 10 Oct: The Pioneer. Reports of sexual misconduct inside the Commonwealth Games Village are mounting by the day. Be it the young, college-going volunteers or even women journalists interviewing players, some foreign athletes do not let go of any chance to make a pass at girls... Since Delhi was facing a 50 per cent shortfall of escorts, half the demand was to be met from Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Bangalore, the hotbeds for A-list sex workers... The surge in sexual activity can also be because a lot of athletes abstain from sex for months before major events to maximise their testosterone build-up. thanks to www.goavoice.org.uk two sections who are not making money out of the Games, the ticket touts, and sex workers! |

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
From the Opinion page of the Herald:
Ridiculous visa laws Peter Pires, Monte de Guirim Your editorial entitled “Special visas†(Herald, 9 Oct) deserves praise. Keep up the good work, sir. It is about time that India realises that there are many specialists all around the world that are more than willing to support this rapidly expanding nation. However, our ridiculous visa laws restrict the nation’s growth. India fails to recognise the fact that foreign companies can contribute to India with a well proven technology. Similarly, why are foreign nationals persecuted with ridiculous property laws? Government has stopped the purchase and sale of properties to foreign nationals. They should realise that the world is changing. If Goa is serious about controlling terrorism, why does the foreigners’ registration office (FRO) in Panjim turn away those who want to register within fourteen days as per information on their visa? It is strange that the FRO refuses to implement this and tells them to come back after five months. Surely, in order to keep track of foreigners’ whereabouts, they should do the duties entrusted to them as per Indian government’s visa requirements. |
