Goa govt gets a free hand in deciding land development

Despite what some local activists say, the Director of Panchyats and Block Development Officers have always been able to overrule the Panchyat (just like local government usually ignores Parish Councils in the UK).
The argument is really about what part(s) of the machine will need greasing!

Doesn't this make you stop and think why we are wingeing when these boys are loosing their lives FOR NOTHING, lets put it all in prospective and pray for the killing to stop.

It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a soldier from 2nd Battalion, The Rifles, was killed in Afghanistan, yesterday, Saturday 7 November 2009. AND ANOTHER ONE THIS AFTERNOON. When will it ever end.

I am 100% with you on this,we only hear about the dead,My son has just been in hospital where they cater for the Afghanistan British lads that come back, limbs missing and blind and deaf. They were so over crowded on the military ward last week that there were two lads in my sons ward, poor little b*ggers one was 18 and the other was just 21 both with serious injuries. My son said they have serious nightmares, screaming in their sleep and have to be sedated
They come back to hospitals miles away from their families with nothing,no one to visit them.We enjoyed being substitiute parents to these boy's, while my son was in hospital with them.It is shameful:thumbdown:.So lets also pray here for the living that come back from Afghanistan and what sort of lives these young boy's are going to have after loosing limbs sight. It is disgraceful, God help these young men
bless them and their family's
:wub:and peace the world over

I will admit I cried when I watched Andrew Marrs this morning when they had the lad on who had lost his arm and legs. I just hope they get the support of the British Government as their young lives are ruined.

The boys and men who are out in Afghanistan are the real heroes of this country. A few of the ASBO yobs could learn a thing or two from them.

Perhaps instead of dishing out benefits to the low lifes who CHOOSE to become alcoholics or drug addicts, or the lazy ones who contribute nothing to the community, the govt should divert that money to help these guys coming back from wars with horrendous disabilities.

Dread - worshipping heroes

Unfortunately the British Government dont give our troops the respect, honour and equipment they deserve or need, never mind the financial support that is required for the returning injured.

Young boys being sent out there straight from basic training with no experience and then returning home minus limbs or worse.......if my son came home like that i would be standing outside no.10 with a baseball bat in my hand.

We are experiencing our very own Vietnam scenario in Afghanistan.

IMHO we should bring our boys home, defend Britain from within and let Afghanistan be what it is.

Re: In To-day's Newspapers

This was sent to me by a young friend just leaving for Iraq in our Army.

He left the Army (thank God) last year after serving in Afganistan he was in
the Military Police training the Afgan Police, he could quite easily have been one of last weeks sad casualties.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"

Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today

Also in same link is "Goa going to the dogs" - a very relevant article in my opinion, and a matter which Goa needs to address.

Dread - get a grip Goa

Have a look at the letters page in Tuesday's Herald;

http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=29680&cid=13

The usual old b*llocks, another rake-over of Scarlett Keeling by a pompous, self-righteous Goan..........................

But never mind all that, look at the date at the top of the page!
(hope they dont notice and change it after all that) 10 Nov,3009
