Thanks to all of you for the info.
I am a PIO, so hopefully no problem there. I cannot seem to contact Churchill at the moment (am getting a recorded message).
I spoke to someone from Braganza constructions and he said that completion is set for January 2010.
Has anyone else been in touch with them?
regards

Thanks Moe and AndyD,
AndyD! I am applying for the Overseas Citizen of India, which basically will give me dual citizenship, so I hope things will be okay (fingers crossed).
Moe,
I bought a single bedroom flat there Block B2 second floor flat. I currently live in West London.
I have some ancestral property in Kerala, currently held in my father's name. so this Goan flat will hopefully be a bolt hole to get away from the relatives on future visits.
I did manage to speak to Stuart today who told me that planning permission has been given but they are waiting for the final nod.

Hi John & Andy, thanks for the warning, I have already reg'd two in Goa, 2 others in India, the most recent in Dec this year. No problems, Goa is under india Govt, which states PIO and OCI have all the same rights as NRI, inc buying property, opening bank accounts etc.
Hey John, I to live in West London (mecca for most PIO's ;-) mail me direct [email protected] There are a few others who have bought B/W that I am in contact with and we share info and meet up. Where in West London?
Oh I booked the 1st floor B6/F1 right in front of the large pool :-)

So do FN's who are 'persons resident in India' but the Registrars in Goa have been told to ignore this - and now there is a new law on the books allowing the Goan government to designate that any group of documents should not be Registered - which is what they are doing in practice now. They have made it fairly clear that they would like to exclude all 'foreigners' or even all non-Goans.

Surely such a law is Unconstitutional!
I am sure such a law will be open to challenge, as the Constitution of India guarantees equality for all Indians regardless of origins.
Moe, I live in Isleworth, and will be in touch soon. It will be useful to meet up with other buyers from B/W

... and the Goa Nationalists are moaning quite a lot at the moment. And don't forget that PIO's are foreigners. I agree the law is almost certainly unconstitutional but what could you do about it? You might end up in the same boat as resident FN's with the registrars just refusing your documents!

I checked the Braganza Construction website and it says that construction is to start in June 2008 and finish in 2010 (they have not given a definite date of completion).

Hi,
Anyone has new updates. One of my friend who had bought in this Brangaza world has been told that developer is looking for new land as old one does not have planning permission.
I still do not understand How could Churchill sell us property which did not had planning permission?
About starting in June, as mentioned earlier in one of post, I think Monsoon will be at worst during June to November at Goa, I doubt they will stick to promise.
Getting bit worried about my investment.
Tried calling Stuart at Churchill, who told me that He will ask Goa people to contact me, and I am still waiting.
Any inputs/ suggestions are welcome.:curse::curse::curse:

Is that what you people who bought via Churchill did as well?
I gather that some of you are buying at Braganza World. Could you please tell me how you paid the instalments?
I still have not heard from the developers so I am a bit uneasy.
Any information about your experiences would be helpful.
thanks
