Pitta bread at a decent price - Morrisons were great - too expensive here - yeah - and why IS bread so darned expensive over here when they grow somuch whate? And why is it like eating a lace curtain? No substance to it - I like to feel a slice of bread go "Thunk" when it hits my stomach.

Well thanks, Jaycee, for bringing up this topic - now I feel REALLY homesick! But I guess I'll cope!
found both branston and piccalli pickles here canadian superstore or save on foods or both.

Talking of vegetarian food we are really missing Quorn in every form. We lived on it and are struggling without it. We are trying every meat substitute we can find in the supermarkets but nothing matches up to Quorn. Also missing Linda McCartney stuff and Tesco's veggie hot dogs.

We used to get our root beer from Asda. I think it was made by Carter's and came in can's (6 pack). We could also get it in bottles in Sainsbury's - their own brand. It is strange that now we are living in Canada and have a variety of root beers available to us we never buy it! I bought some A&W root beer today for the first time as we have guests from the UK who like it.

I think I get the same ones. Hold on...

Just looked into my stash: La Costena - Chiptole peppers in adobo sauce - product of Mexico (via care packages from BC) ... and LAST TIN! :scared:

Do they have Yves Veggie Cuisine stuff in NS? I use to eat a few of their products and found them OK. Though I'm a vegetarian, I'm not really keen on meat substitutes. I do love the jumbo veggie dogs on the BBQ though!

Amy's Kitchen is another brand - though I'm not sure if it's available in NS. IMO, knocks the sock of Linda McCartney stuff.

I'm not too sure about food shopping in NS but perhaps try a health food shop. They won't have Quorn but they might have some stuff you can't find in the bigger shops.

I believe the US sells Quorn... you could always go for a Quorn Cruise.

Hi Shell,
You can buy Quorn in Superstore and also Sobeys, you just aren't looking in the right place. It is usually where the imported cheeses are around the deli section....have a look next time you are in and if you don't see it ask the one behind the counter in the deli section to point it out.
Hope all is well!

Hi Garfield!
I know you can get sour cream in most supermarkets (but not Greek Yoghurt, which I miss - better than sour cream on your baked spuds and salad dressings) I've seen PG Tips teabags, I'm sure, in Zehrs.
Does anyone know where I can get haloumi cheese out here in rural southwestern Ontario - I'm halfway between Stratford and Goderich. Help please - I need it, and soooooon!

Sour Cream - Yes cos we buy it with salsa and guacomole and cheese for Nachos
French Brie - Don't know
Walkers Crisps - Never seen them so I think no, although Lays are nice
PG Tips - Yes I have seen them here but have been using PC English breakfast teabags as they are cheaper
