Compared to our Canadian PR application (5+ years processing back in those days), getting US PR would have been a lot quicker & easier for us personally.

He’s not.
Things may have changed over the years. Also things may depend on personal circumstances.

I've honestly never known anybody who could immigrate to the USA without some legal help or sponsorship in terms of visa.
In Canada I could apply for PR only by myself, not involving any "consultants" and immigration lawyers.

In Canada I ended up with PR right from the start, in the US, I've hardly known anybody who had something permanent in terms of visa right from the start.

Only exemption were foreigners who married a US citizen, they got a Green Card right from the start.

The "Canadian experience" thing doesn't apply to the computer business. It may be that it's used as an easy way to refuse further contact with someone but it's absolutely usual to hire people who are not yet in the country. It's a competitive market, of course, you need to know your stuff and present well but "I'm in London now but have PR" is just as good as "I was born in Cochrane Ontario and have always lived here". I have recently hired someone who was in Bangalore and have previously hired a Saffer who was in Saudi.

I wonder about it applying to doctors. My daughter who emigrated to Tower Hamlets did so with an Italian trauma surgeon. They met over a bloodied body, he was chopping and she was passing tools. He was here on a work permit and, when it expired, wanted to go back to Europe. Logistically, London was easiest so they went there. If one of us had got shot, or in a road traffic accident, in the GTA at that time there was an approximately 1 in 6 chance of being sown up by this visitor to the country. This sample of one leads me to think that it's likely not as simple as "Canadian experience" being crucial for doctors, plainly foreign doctors can operate in some circumstances.

For the IT business this issue is rare. It's one big advantage of the industry. A Microsoft Azure certification is the same all over the world. Same goes for Cisco, or Palo Alto etc....

There is certainly professional protectionism which is a problem. That’s not the main thrust of the OP’s runt. According to him “Canadians” are lazy and backward. And racist. I’d say anyone coming from Britain and claiming that Canada is more racist is either deaf and blind or just nuts. And Britain isn’t the worst in Europe in this respect.

He is also claiming that Canadians are unfriendly. Can’t imagine why locals are not loving him. Puzzle of the century.
Read with a bit of understanding.
In my opinion Canadians are racist , so are Brits and Americans but only Canada claims NOT to be.

Does Canada claim that? I don't imagine so, there's an explicit apartheid system. Admittedly it's not relevant to immigrants, but two ways of life according to ethnicity is, pretty much, the definition of a racist country.

Have you met all Canadians, Americans and Brits? And all of them were racist? And Canadians made this claim of not being while the Brits were upfront and all went “hello, my name is John Brown, I am racist”? Very impressive.

Ah, thought he'd just lived in the UK. Either way though his experience of being in the UK will be different if he's originally from Poland.

Just wanted to point out that 'only after a few years' isn't correct. Even if on a temp visa, there's no requirement to be there for a certain amount of time before applying for a green card. As I said, it does depend on the visa category, you do need to be pretty specialist to qualify for EB1 or EB2 NIW, but there are quite a few on the US immi forums that have applied under those routes and gone with immigrant visas without needing sponsorship from an employer. Not sure it's a DIY thing, we're using a lawyer but it's being paid for by my husband's company, so we're not going to turn that down. Ours is via EB1A so no job offer or sponsoring employer required.

You set yourself up in your original post on this subject. I think your lack of research and your quick to make sweeping generalizations on a country of 35 million plus people across multiple time zones have made your time in Canada not enjoyable. Most of us (well there are some professional grumblers and contrarians on this forum) like Canada. If it isn't for you there are airports and land crossings to investigate.

Because as he mentioned in post it doesn't effect him is my guesstimate.

In fact most people I speak too aren't aware of it whether they are here or elsewhere.

My first foray to the northern burbs was to Yonge and Eglinton, to a pub that had been dismantled in England and shipped there. It was from Slough or Basildon or Milton Keynes, somewhere like that. A curiosity, but not one really needs to see twice.

There is the two English themed pubs on the East side of Yonge so my guess is it was/is one of those.

Back in the day 2004/2005 when I was there there was also a spot called "The Main Event" across the road from those which was a cluster for expats for England games.

I used to walk the other way down Yonge street to "Gabbys" which had more novelty value.

In the last decade I've only been up there about 3 times and not in the last 5 years or so.

I think LMartin (former poster) and I had beers in the pub you refer to one time.
