Had a bit of rain the other day. Moved the car into our back yard for a free wash:

If you see that every single day, why would you use a Daily Mail photo? Do you not have one of your own?

Oh yes, I hear you! I am so glad that I am not there now - we just saw the grandkids on skype looking hot and flustered and at least they can run around with nothing on. I just loathed the nights when you cant sleep because of the heat and my DH refuses, point blank, to have aircon! (He's going back to Aus for a few weeks to sort out some loose ends - in Feb
)
Give me the UK winter over that hell any day of the week - at least you can rug up and I have been knitting a nice line in scarves since I have been here - nice and cosy!!!!

Australia is not sunshine, surf and smiles.
Today, for example, it is a hot hell hole at the arse end of the World.
It is too hot for the kids to go outside and do anything so they are holed up in our inadequately air-conditioned house waiting to go to the shops to wander aimlessly in an inadequately air-conditioned shopping centre.
I have just been outside and checked the thermometre in the pergola and it is 34 degrees centigrade (that's over 93 farenheit) IN THE SHADE. 1.38 pm.
If I took them to the beach they would burn like bacon and risk skin cancer.
Australia's "sunny" weather is not fun.

Yes 34 is pleasant esp if its on the beach with sea breeze.
Some people cant tolerate it because they dont wear deodorant.

We don't all have the luxury of being able to sit on the beach. Commuting into the city in 34 degrees, in business clothes, with the humidity pushing 90% at times, is hellish, no other word for it.
