Australia is not sunshine, surf and smiles.
Today, for example, it is a hot hell hole at the arse end of the World.
It is too hot for the kids to go outside and do anything so they are holed up in our inadequately air-conditioned house waiting to go to the shops to wander aimlessly in an inadequately air-conditioned shopping centre.
I have just been outside and checked the thermometre in the pergola and it is 34 degrees centigrade (that's over 93 farenheit) IN THE SHADE. 1.38 pm.
If I took them to the beach they would burn like bacon and risk skin cancer.
Australia's "sunny" weather is not fun.

Yes we're we are as well. Way too hot to go outside and even the dog is just laying on the floor tiles trying to stay cool.

My boys don't resort to staying inside until it's over 41 c. We often go to the beach/river in such conditions. Sun screen works well, as do long sleeved rashies.

Hobart looks nice, I bet it's lush too ...

38.5 degrees and rising here, I might put the fan on.

I used to look at the Hobart forecast and think "crap weather, just like the UK" but having been there (only briefly) the climate is just one of the things that would make me want to move there.

It's a pleasant 24 degrees here today! Bit cooler the next couple of days though, max of 20 on Weds - and in the mountains of Victoria there may be snow this week!

34 c in the shade would a normally, pleasant day for us. It must depend where you are and how you like your weather.

I don't go out for long periods if it's over 38 though. Half hour max for me then I seek the shade. It's currently 21 degrees here, which I find COLD
I have my jumper on

That is beautiful, 24 would do me just fine.
I grew up in Geelong and summers were often up in the 40's, dry, dusty, loads of bushfires.

Brisbane 34 is often quite different from Vic / SA and I'd hazard a guess south WA, 34.
As long as you don't plan on doing anything too strenuous you can actually quite comfortably sit in the shade on a 40C Melbourne day. You could have far more uncomftable 30C days in Brisbane...although still not quite as bad as the 'just wait til Xmas / January' folk make out!
