Hello and Welcome!! I don't know the answer to the question you've answered I'm sorry, as ours was pretty straight forward! Good Luck to you and hopefully someone will be able to answer your Q!

Hello there, Welcome to the thread and to the forum! The police check that you have received sounds right, but as I'm no expert don't take my word for it!!

Good luck with your visa!

Thank you!! Hopefully it's right after waiting nearly 40 days... I popped into the police station i got the form from and they said they gave me the correct form for checks for visa applications so fingers crossed!!

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around the forum for a few months now, but thought it was about time i joined as i will no doubt have a few (well prob lots of) questions now that we have started my spouse visa app.
I'm the brit and my husbands the Aussie. We met each other when i was in oz on a WHV - it seems like a few of us met our other halves that way :)
We've been living in the UK just over 3 years now and have decided to head back to oz this year - spring/summer time!! OH is v excited and i'm a mix of excitment and nerves...

I've already sent off my police checks and just got them back yesterday.
I just wanted to check that i have applied for/received the correct info?
It looks like they have only checked my person record for any prosecutions or convictions, and it just says that "no info is held about you in the person record of the Police National Computer". Under section 7 of the dpa - subject access. I just wondered if this is similar to what everyone else has received??
Well i'm only asking the one question for now as i seem to have waffled on for long enough :)
But i just want to say congrats to everybody who has got their visa recently!
You must be chuffed to bits :D

Thanks for any replies!!!

Hi,

Welcome, the police check you got is the same one i got and I checked with the subject access peeps via email and they said it was the right one. Any doubt email the subject access peeps, just google subject access and their website will come up and how to contact them, they are pretty helpful!!
i met my OH on WHV too, we came back to UK last Nov and have now decided to go back to oz, I finished my application today - its not as bad as it sounds , just lots of organising. i would book your meds soon too asyou can front load these and then your application should process pretty quickly providing no probs with meds and police checks. you need to go onto immi website to find panel doctors and find the one nearest to you or phone around too and see which one is the cheapest,. I have been on this website since last year and after ages of peeps helping me it feels really good to offer advice to someone else for a change. If you need to know anything just ask and if I dont know someone else will. good luck

We are getting married in Brisbane in march then back to uk to lodge spousal papers at oz house. My question is this,do we need to wait for them to send the original marriage cert before lodging our visa app or can we lodge the copy/receipt we will initially get from the registry office. They may take quite a few weeks to send the original and this will obviously delay our visa app, cheers for any advice/ideas.Bernie.Sara.

Hi Jutang,
Thanks so much for replying to my question!! Phew that's a relief that it sounds like i've got the correct form. One less thing to have to think about now.. Cheers for how to contact the subject access guys. I phoned to chase it up last week and was given 3 different phone no's by 3 diff people. The police didn't seem to have a clue on who i need to call!!
Think i'll book my meds for the start of Feb. I know that it's gonna cost around £250 as i called around last month (trying to be organised ;)).
I'm sure you'll regret offering advice once i start posting heaps of questions :)
You sound like you're pretty far on with your application?! When are you planning on going back to Oz?
Congrats on getting your app finished. Bet that's a great feeling - no more forms to fill out/evidence to photocopy!!

Hi Bernieboy,
I hope i'm giving you the correct advice here.
I married my husband in Oz in 2004 (he's the Aussie). We got married up N.Q/land, but as we needed the certified copy of the wedding certificate asap for his UK visa, we flew down to Brisbane and made an appt to go into the births, deaths, and marriage office. (Sorry i can't remember the name of the place, although it was only a few years ago!) We just took our decorative certificate, i.d and paid a small fee. We got all this done just a few days after the wedding so unless things have changed drastically, hopefully you may be able to do the same esp as you're getting married in Brisbane.
May be worth giving them a call to see if it's still poss?
And congrats on the wedding, hope you both have a fantastic day :)

Hi,

Not a prob I have been a bag of anxiety the last 2 months!! grrrr, worrying over stupid things, its odd cos one minute you feel ok and then you start worrying about something else!! But do not worry, like the immi peeps said to me if it is a valid application and your meds (i.e you havent got a really bad illness, like cancer, aids or something really costly to treat) and police checks are fine (i.e you havent been to prison for something really bad!!) then there is no reason your application will be denied. Just remember if you are not sure about something just ask - email immigration, email police , email me , email this website, ask ask and ask away, dont feel like you are being annoying cos @ the end of the day this is your future happiness and why shouldnt you ask questions.
Print off booklet 6 from the immi website, its under sudheading booklets on the website - if you cant find it just ask me and I wil email it to you, this guide is really helpful as it will tell you everything you need to know step by step guide. the forms are pretty self explanatory, but if in doubt just call the london contact centre if not sure how to answer a question and take the name of the person advising and write down the date.

Hi,

Silly question I know , but why didnt you get PMV visa first ? Obviously you have your reasons, but financially I have found it worked out best for us as we dont have to pay 2 lots of flights. Anyways not too sure about the answer to your question, my marriage celebrant is applying for our marraige cert, but we are not in a hurry to get it, although she did say :- when we first decided to get married we were going over on an ETA and coming back like you and we said to our celebrant, we only have another 3 weeks in OZ after wedding and she said she will advise when she sends of the cert she needs it back quickly and if it didnt come back by the time we were leaving she would send it over to the UK for us, so maybe worth speaking to your celebrant or priest - who ever is marrying you ?? They prob are really experienced in this and it prob happens all the time. My celbrant is really experienced in marying peeps from UK.

No worries, to get your wedding cert, you could ask the person who is marrying you, this could take the stress off a little ? Just a thought. Remember to take lots of pics and stuff and keep all your flight tickets and holiday tickets and honeymoon proof cos Immi wil want all this in your application. As much proof as poss about your relationship!! Are you both in UK @ mo and then going back togther ? Who is the aussie citizen ?

Hey,

Thanks for all the tips you're a good 'un. Form downloaded and filled in (apart from passport numbers as i'm still waiting for my new passport) i've even done form 80 just incase they request it. Like you said they were pretty straightforward, especially i guess in comparison to the skilled visas...
Just photocopying/scanning heaps of evidence. When Mick (my hubbie) got his UK visa they wtd to see evidence (like a bill) with no more than 3 months inbetween, so i'm going on that assumption!
At least now you've completed your app you can try to chill out for a bit :) but i guess now you'll have something else to worry about. I know i'll be the same, i'm a natural born worrier  and when the thing i was worrying about is ok i move onto something else to stress over!
Have you posted your application off yet then?
I just have a quick question. What did you do about the certifying stuff? Did you get every photocopy certified (i have a lot but i'd rather do too much then not enough) or just passport/birth/marriage certificates?, and did u get a solicitor to certify them for you?
Told you i'd start on the questions soon!!
Thanks heaps :D

Hi
We had all our important documents certified by a solicitor- so just as you said passports, birth certificates etc. All our other docs such as evidence that we submitted was original stuff apart from photos which were copies either scanned or downloaded from the computer. We got most if not all of the original evidence stuff back. Hope this helps. :)

Hi,

I certified my passport, OH passport and birth cert to prove he is an aussie citizen and my birth cert, you can get them certified by a JOP or a notary, I had them done by a notary , only cos he certified our notice of intended marriage. i had bank statemenst from Aus certified , only cos I could never replace them and everything else i put in as originals, but immi told me to include a letter asking for the stuff you want back, so bank statements and things like that they should send back. Send everything with the application, your police check , meds receipts and form 80 as they will proces sit much quicker then. Also your original passport you can send that when you get your visa, send yo imi and they stamp it and send it back, obviously include registered self addressed envelopes for return of passport and all goods. Anything else just ask!! Yes, its so stressFul, got my meds on Tuesday and im stressing cos 10 years ago I had abnormal cells on a smear and had to have a coloscopy, but all smear since then have been clear, I have proof from doc to say they are clear, but still worryinmg incase they deney my visa cos I had abnormal cells!! See I have found something else to worry about now!! :curse::thumbsup:
i am sending off application next Sat!! :)
