i am a dual citizen as i was born in Oz but family moved back to UK when i was 3. My family (wife and 2 girls) are moving over to Oz next year. I have just received Citizen by Descent certificates for the girls last week and will be popping down to London in January to get all three of us a passport.

My question to all you knowledgeable people is my wifes spouses visa. I have gathered she should be able to go for the Perm Res as we have been married 10 years and have two kids.

But does anyone know what forms we need to fill in and can she she lodge it when i go for the passports in Jan. I know the Visas office is in a different part of the building to the Passport office.

how much would the visa cost and how long would it take? Would she need to have a medical and police check?

Any help would be apprecitated.

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas:D

Hi there........
Im gonna try and remember as much as possible for you off the top of my head as i did my spouse visa app around 12 months ago!!

I think the visa was around £500 and mine and kids was granted in 2 weeks!!

She will need a police check, which can take up to 30 days, and a medical.

If you go onto the dimia website you will find all the necessary forms on there to print off and fill in, can take quite a while!!

If you need any more help just shout!

Going to take my passport along to Australia House in the morning to get it.

Hi Everyone

OMG - I was really excited when I got home and there was a letter for my husband from Aus House. I opened it while I was on the phone to him, hoping for a bit of celebration since we have waited for 7 weeks now!! Unfortunately they were requesting further information.:(
They wanted him to undertake health and x-ray examinations (which we had already frontloaded/ submitted and they actually confirmed receipt of this!!):frown:

They also wanted our daughter's full birth certificate (she is not included on his application as we had applied at the same time for her Aus citizenship by descent). Oh and they want confirmation of that as well!!?!
We are a bit annoyed as my OH explained all this in his appln, but I suppose it just goes to show that not all is plain sailing. So off to the solicitors again for certification and the wait is not over.:(

Hello the Spouse Visa Circle, it's been ages since I got on the forum!!
Hope you are all well, I see more people have got their visas now, which is always great to read...
We are finally back in Oz after 4 years in the UK, the OH is very happy. Of course now the hard graft starts looking for jobs, home, transferring money, and just deciding if we want to live in Melbourne or Perth!
It all went really well, my Dad sold my car in the UK for only 100 quid less than I wanted after just a week, caught up with my sister in the USA for 3 weeks after 13 years, spent xmas on the beach in Perth...even our toddler took the whole thing in her stride, despite doing 3 continents and 15 time zones in 3 days :D
So it's been a busy couple of months. Customs inspected our stuff on Friday, hope to have our things back very soon!
Look forward to getting up to speed with everything on BE!

Hi Everyone,

While I was here saying congrats I thought I'd send a quick catch up with where we're at, at the moment.

Well in only 76 days my husband and I will be off to Brisbane via Singapore (for two nights - anyone recommend somewhere to stay??) and I can't wait! It's so strange the feelings that rush through you leading up to leaving. There is excitement, happiness, worry and sadness all rolled into one!! It's hard to explain but those who have gone thru it or are leading up to leaving will know what I mean.

I'm from Aus, and all my family are in Aus, yet I found myself at work yesterday getting sad about leaving my husbands family!! I think it's the fact that I know my husband will be upset and I hate the thought of that. I feel guilty for taking him away from his family in a way.

Anyway this week I will be packing some boxes of bits that I want to take with me. We're not taking a whole house full of stuff, just a few bits. Still unsure of who to use to ship our stuff - Anyone have any suggestions?? We'll probably have about 8 boxes at the most I should think.

We'll hopefully be selling out car at the end of January as there is someone at work who is interested in buying it. We'll be carless for 6 weeks after that, but we've sorted lifts etc to work and live in the middle of our town and walk everywhere on our days off anyway (we both work 4 on 4 off at the same company) We'll be giving out notice in at work next month too.

Well I hope everyone is well, for those who are still waiting for your visa - good luck! Those who are in Aus already - did it take long to setle down and find jobs etc??

Bye for now x

Hi all,

Well our story is I'm the Aussie who went for a trip to England and ended up with more baggage to bring home than initally intended! I met my fiancee in late April 07 and were engaged in July of 07! Unfortunately there was not enough time between working out where we were going to live, the type of visa required and my sisters wedding in October 07 (Which he came over for) so now Matt is back in the Uk about to lodge the visa application!! Im just finishing up my stat dec and scanning engagement cards etc to post to him.

so now it is just the big wait- well hopefully not too long! and then we can be together again :wub:and really get involved in the community we are going to live in which is so exciting for both us.

Will keep you posted on our progress- hopefully all sorted and matt can be here by April08!!

Re: Spouse Visa Circle - join here!

Hi

I came out here in May 1996 on a prospective spouse visa. I met my wife in Cyprus in july 1995. We were married in october 1996 and I became a permanent resident two weeks later. In January 1999, I became an australian citzen (Dual Nationality).

Karen and I have been married now for just over 11 years and I have never been back to the UK. It does help having most of my family over here (They are all in WA and I live over on the east coast just south of Canberra.

I have never regreted coming out here. I just love the place.

To anyone who is thinking of coming out here, I just have two words to say - DO IT.

Barney

Hi Barney! Thanks for the encouraging post!! It can be a little scary and we have so many doubts so it's nice hearing when people move and everything goes well etc :)

Hi! Welcome to the thread! Good luck with your visa. My husband (who is Welsh also) and I will be moving to Brisbane in March, so close to the Gold Coast. There are quite a few of us in or moving to the Brisbane area. Have you got your police checks done yet? Ours took about a month to get back so if you haven't got them done yet I'd do that pretty soon.

Well speak to you soon!
