Yep you are right about the medical - I forgot about the forms I have to fill out, so of course will mention anything on there. Good job you reminded me - I am going for them tomorrow! That's a good idea about post office recorded delivery - I'll do that too. Yeh I think we have loads of proof in all the stat decs that we have been together for 2 years and living together for one and have pics, cards etc. We were going to get joinet bank account in canada anyway cos it will be easier, but yes, will have to start thinking about the next stage I spose and collecting 'evidence'!! gawd, they make me feel like I'm lying all the time tho, don't you think?! 'proving' everything is so damn tiresome! Yes may have to get back from canada a bit sooner than we thought in time to get everything sorted. I think this is one of the things the CO is going to bring up, because our wedding is booked for 21st November, so not leaving much time to then send off for spouse visa. BTW, do you know how much the next stage costs? and is it as much of an ordeal as this step?! also, do they always ask for your passport to stamp visa in, cos I might get bored hangin around for a response and take off to Canada before I get a reply!! Another thing when you are waiitng for your PMV to come through im sure you have to be in the UK, so not a good idea to go to Canada before it comes through, just incase I am correct and what if IMMI need to see you for any reason. They will need your passport to stamp you either send with application or you wait until you are given visa and send off to Immi then , if you do this you need to send a certified copy of your passport - this is what I did, as I may go up in person and hand my passport in when visa is given, I wil make an appointment etc etc, but will have a CO so prob be easier to get an appointment. Dont know how much 2nd stage costs ? prob the same amount ? I know PMV is £500 something ? It works out cheaper than us flying out for wedding coming back and then flying back on spouse, that wouldbe about £4500, but with PMV $500 Spouse £500? and one way flghts there, prob about £3000, saves us around £1500. Just saving every peny @ mo as soon as visa through we are off to Europe for a few weeks , then fly out and stop in Dubai!! woo hoo!! |

If you have been together for 2 years and living together for 1 why not just apply for temp residency visa? My OH and I have been together since July 06 and living together since September 06. We don't have a great deal of supporting evidence like some people but I think it's enough. When we first started living together the landlord was none the wiser so I was never included on the tenancy agreement nor was my name (or hers for that matter) on any of the bills. This went on until last August so evidence of our living arrangements before this time are a bit dodgey. All we have as proof we were living together back then will be a statement from a housemate and the post I had sent to that address. Since August though we have moved to a new place and are both on the agreement and all bills are in joint names and have had a joint account since July.
We are applying in April. |

http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/part...-100/index.htm You don't need to be getting married to get a Visa. This way you will only have to pay for the one visa (it's around £550). IMO the only reason you would bother with a PMV would be if you didn't meet the requirements of the temp residency visa. |

Not sure there is any other option for us as we aren;t married yet. oh gawd, don't tell me there could have been an easier way! I don't think so tho. |

But the only proof we have of living together for 12 months is council tax bills (everything else was in my name only) will this be enough do you think? Alos, I read on here about a guy last year who applied for something like the PMV and then his CO upgraded him cos he had enough evidence - anyone heard of that? Wht do you think Jutang? are you not in similar situation? you and OH have been together 3 years so how come you are applying for PMV? |

Hi Guys,
Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but I'm at work and not supposed to be browsing.... I'm off to apply for my Aussie passport tomorrow, after which we'll be applying for visa's for my wife and 5 children. I've seen it mentioned on here that your medicals can be 'preloaded'? The Aussie gov website says to hold off until you're meds are requested, can I just download the forms from the UK site and go ahead with the medicals prior to putting the application in? And if so what happens when the results arrive and there's as yet no corresponding application? We'll be applying in London. Thanks in advance, we want to get things moving so if we can get the meds and police check out of the way beforehand we figure it will make things easier. We're looking at Melbourne by the way, as long as the visas are ok and we manage to sell the house we aim to be there this year... |

I think you have to be married already for this one ? or in a defacto relationship, which is classed as if you are married ,so you would need to prove life long commitment with that person, quite hard to do if only been living together for 1 year ?? I would of thought. Check with Immi, but when I emailed them asking ages ago,. they said the PMV. We are not applying for it cos I wouldnt of thought we have enough evidence to prove a defacto relationship. Im sure if you do mapply for PMV and your CO thinks you can upgrade he will upgrade you. |

The on year relationship requirement is here: http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sh...lationship.htm If you can prove that then theres no reason why you should be looking at PMV. Marriage isn't the institution it once was so you can't expect people to be only granted visas under the expectation that they are or will be getting married. |

any advice? sounds like you're sticking with the PMV Jutang? Timbo-Em do you have lost of evidence for your de-facto status? |

hmm ... yeh a tough one. I'm sure that was my first thought about the de-facto status "I don't have enough evidence", but after having a brief look again, it only says you have to have been living together for a year and prove your relationship is serious and ongoing. Ohh, I don't know what to do now. It would be so much easier to miss out a stage and it would save money too ... but a big risk.
