Hi all,
I'm a bit confused about the stat decs required. Would it be ok for my mum or dad to write one and for them to sign it (My mum is a teacher & they are both australian citizens)
Also I have a friend who is a teacher, can she certify her own statement - or would I have to get another friend to fill out form and her to certify it. We have lots of other friends who would complete form 888 - would it be OK for the teacher to certify all these or could my mum certify them all as she is an australian teacher? There doesn't seem anywhere to say that a relation can't certify it. Also do you have to include copies of your friends passports? I've seen some people are doing this but can't see where it says to do this on the form
Arghhh:curse::curse::curse:
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Must go to bed now - 1.30 on sat night still filling out forms! Never mind in a years time I may be sitting outside beside a pool drinking my castlemaine 4X

do you actually still get it? Boags beer was the drink of choice ( or necessity) when I lived in tassie, but seeing my dad the morning after I'm not to sure I'll be sampling it

We just included two stat decs with ours - one from an old family friend of my parents who is a teacher who had it certified by a police officer and the other one from a dear friend who had it certified by a notary public. (both of these people included with their stat dec copies of their passports which had also been certified as true copies by the same person certifying the stat dec). We didn't include any stat decs from our family as we hadn't told them about going until after we submitted the application.
IMO, I think that whoever certifys it ideally would be different to the person making the stat dec. Also for further info, do a search on this thread on stat decs and you'll see that people have submitted varying types of stat decs and their visas got approved no probs. Hope this helps and good luck.
BTW - they definitely still sell Castlemaine XXXX

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie on here!
My name is Amelia and I live in Ripon North Yorkshire. (Not far from you RachelH!) My OH was born in the UK but moved to oz when he was 16. He lived over there till 2001 when he came back to the UK. We got together in 2006 and have a 10 month old baby girl.
We got our spouse visa approved in December and have our flights booked to Perth on 10th May one way. Dead excited, especialy as I have never even been there before!!
Kinda scared, resasurance and new friends needed.

Hi,
I am a kiwi, but also aussie citizen, and lived in Sydney for 9 years.
I met my now husband online while I was in OZ begining of 2003 (he was here in the UK), was just friends at first...but you know how it develops, so he came for a visit in May 03 and we decided to give it ago and he went back to the UK handed in his notice, then I joined him for a visit to meet his family and we flew back together in Aug 03.
He came over on a WHV and looked and found a role for a company that would sponser him. Unfortunately that lead to certain people in that company treating him really badly which coloured his view on Australia and living here.
We decided to come to the UK in 2004, but due to dogs etc needed to go through the rabis vac/blood tests etc needed to avoid quarantine. We married in April 2005, and moved in Sept 05 to the UK when I was 20 weeks pregnant.
Skip forward and I am unhappy here, and my hubby promised he would go back if i was unhappy. But he wants to give Melbourne ago as there is bad memories in Sydney - so although I really would prefer to go back to Sydney where i have friends etc as a compromise have said yes.
BUT I feel guilty - knowing part of him really doesnt want to go, and that is mainly due to his parents who are not well, but I do not want to spend the rest of my life here and my unhappiness is effecting us - he said tho he would rather be in Australia with us, than in London alone. I am sure this is common in these sorts of situations.
We are only just starting the process, getting our son citizen by decent, have asked friends in OZ to do Stat Decs for us on our relationship etc. Luckily I still have a few bills from OZ in both our names, and just gathering all the required stuff at the moment.
Cheers

I had a look at the question and it does look a bit vague for your situation. Have you tried emailing the contact centre? We must have emailed them about 50 times with our questions! Best of luck.

I think you may be. On form 47SP, it says the type of visa is Class TO (Prospective Marriage - Temporary). But to make sure perhaps email the contact centre for confirmation.

I know this is a bit different but, when I came back to the UK from Aus to marry my OH, I came on a fiancee visa which was temporary and then had to apply for permanent residency to stay after we married. I wonder if its the same.

Thanks poppydreams! I went to Edinburgh to apply for my passport yesterday and that was so simple! I haven't had an australian passport of my own before ( Its 15 years since i've been) so had to appear in person. I imagined some stuffy guy in a suit asking awkward questions, but the lady was lovely and seemed pleased that I had all the documents required.
I'm getting my passport before applying for the spouse visa & citizenship by descent, as I'm on my parents citizenship certificate & my name has changed since I married so I think the passport would be a better way of confirming my citizenship. So I take it as long as the right documents are provided the visa will be straightforward too. Don't know why I'm panicing - we've been married 8 years & have four kids so surely he'll get the visa! Just scared in case any job offers come in the mean time & he can't take them so want to get the visa application right so it gets through quickly!!!

Hi all,
think it's about time I introduced myself seeing as i've been reading this post for a little while now.
Me and my partner spent 9 months in Australia a few years ago on WHV's which was brilliant. He has wanted to live out in Oz for ages and after about a year of umming and aaring after we got back I finally agreed. We are just waiting for him to finish his college course in June and then we will be applying with me as his de-facto partner. I am so bored of waiting already I just want to GO NOW but I know I have a long wait ahead of me. Have already started putting together stat decs etc as i'm so excited!
Was wondering if someone could just answer me one question though... Do I wait for him to get his visa before I apply as a de facto or does it all go in together?
We're hoping to move to Cairns eventually as we loved it there. His brother has moved near Sydney and got himself engaged so VERY jealous every time he skype's just to tell us what the weather is like!!!
Thanks for all the helpful hints and advice i've already found on the thread and hopefully i'll be able to contribute later on in my visa process!

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around the forum for a few months now, but thought it was about time i joined as i will no doubt have a few (well prob lots of) questions now that we have started my spouse visa app.
I'm the brit and my husbands the Aussie. We met each other when i was in oz on a WHV - it seems like a few of us met our other halves that way
We've been living in the UK just over 3 years now and have decided to head back to oz this year - spring/summer time!! OH is v excited and i'm a mix of excitment and nerves...
I've already sent off my police checks and just got them back yesterday.
I just wanted to check that i have applied for/received the correct info?
It looks like they have only checked my person record for any prosecutions or convictions, and it just says that "no info is held about you in the person record of the Police National Computer". Under section 7 of the dpa - subject access. I just wondered if this is similar to what everyone else has received??
Well i'm only asking the one question for now as i seem to have waffled on for long enough
But i just want to say congrats to everybody who has got their visa recently!
You must be chuffed to bits
Thanks for any replies!!!
