Will do...if only they had a stat dec form for declarations made in the UK. It would make things alot easier for people!

I guess I need to find out what the legal requirements are for stat decs in the UK then!

I got my Mum to do a stat dec (she's a Pom) as well as OH's Mum (Aussie). My Mum just filled in the same stat dec form and put it with a certified copy of her passport (certified by someone she works with who's a physiotherapist). It seemed to work - I got the visa!

Cheers Scub!

Sounds basically like the situation we are in. Going to give them a stat dec from my Mum (aussie) and one from the OH's oldies (brits). I will submit some statements from friends (been away from home too long so they are all brits too!) and stuff to back it up but not going to bother going to the same lengths as you have to with the stat decs.

See how we go!

Timbo.

Hi everyone,

I'm quite new on here but about to send my Prospective Marriage Visa off on Monday! Jutang, are you sending yours this weekend? maybe we could keep in touch to see how the process goes?
I have my meds tommorrow and also had an abnormal smear and a colposcopy around 7 years ago - I didn't even think about that, but when I booked the medical, they didn't ask me to take along any previous details. Did yours go ok?

Also, has anyone heard of people submitting their applications in person? I read somewhere that you could do that if you had an appointment and that it speeds things up? I emailed immi but haven't heard back yet.

Also, I got stat decs from Poms as well as 2 from aussies and I haven't got them to get copies of their passports to go with them. Guess I will now after reading previous posts on here. cheers everyone.

p.s. I am the pom and my OH is the aussie. We are going to Cairns area.

Hi,

Yeh I am sending off mine this weekend, im going to send it recorded del as immi said they dont really like peeps going there in person and if you do you have to make an appointment and courier services can only del between 9 & 11am so thought best just to send it recorded special delivery.
I had my meds, be warned if you have any tattoos they will take bloods for hep B&C, so preper yourself. My panel doc was quite happy I took my reports in for my smears for the last 10 years as it saves her asking my doc for them, dont worry if you dont have them, they will just ask your doc, although it wil process quicker if you have reports to hand - call up your docs today and ask them to print them off, they may charge they may not - mine didnt. But panel doc didnt see a prob with my colposcopy as I have had negative smears for 10 years -so dont worry.
yep would be happy to discuss out applications, we can support each other!! Just PM me - personal message.
Ask me anything and anything I dont know , someone wil know. I am Welsh and my OH is Aussie , we are off to the Gold Coast. x
P.s I got 3 stat decs from OH's Mum, Uncle and Sisters husbands mother who is an expat, you do defo need proof of ID, so certified copies of Passport or birth cert, in Aus they can be certified by a police officer, pharmacist, teacher, JOP list goes on - its in the booklet 1 for partner migration and in UK , you need a notary or JOP. Hope this helps xx

My OH is 24 and never had a 'smear' (very vulgar word for it). Will she need one before her medical or is it only after a certain age they look at that kind of thing?

cool, yeh I have proof of ID for the aussie ones, just not the British ones, but can get that sorted easily enough.
How much is it costing you to send off your application then? have you booked the courier already? how do you do it?!

ok, I think I might not even mention my colposcopy to the doctor until he asks. I am not in a major rush to be honest because I am still waiting for my PCC to come back, so he can ask my doctor for it if he likes.

How confident are you about the application? I go through phases. One minutes I think I'll breeze it, the next I'm not so sure! We have been living together for a year, but only have council tax statements to prove it. Am sending pics, statements, proof of holidays together. Hope it's enough.

So nice to find someone else in the same situation!

I have handed my notice in at work already as we're off to Canada to work on a ranch (!) until October, which is when we're going straight to Oz. Booked the wedding for November.

sorry going on and on ... you are very good at giving people advice on here. I will be bugging you a lot now! just ignore me if I start boring you.

I think you have to be 25 to have one now, which is stupid cos I had pre-cancerous cells at 22 and I know a girl who had cervical cancer at 24 which could have been prevented if she'd had a smear.
If it's not the law, I doubt she will 'need' one for the medical as they will say she's too young, but to be honest it's a good excuse for getting her doctor to do one just to be safe.

sorry if that freaks anyone out but it is easy to prevent if you have regular smears.

Hi,

You should have a smear as soon as you start having sex, Soz to be personal. I only provided my smear results cos I have had abnormal 10 years ago. But they may ask for her previous smear results and it may be worth her booking an appointment with her doc, they take 6 weeks to come through. It may not be an issue that she has never had a smear, but just incase book one and get it done, also it saves lives!!

I totally agree, but I have heard that these days you have to put up a fight to get one if you're under 25, which is so wrong, but apparently the way it is now.

No no I agree! I will tell her she will need to have one done before the medical, that way she will go! For her own good anyway.

yeh cool, I would provide ID with the UK ones too, just incase, better to get all angles covered. i dont know how much it will cost yet, but it weights 2 kilos - so who knows, prob a tenner or something, you need to send a self addresses pre paid return envelope too, for anyhting you want returned, so im gonna pre pay that for half the weight my parcel is, im not using a courier (same day service) im going to use post office special recorded delivery and fingers crossed, this way you can track it online.

i would be completly honest in your meds as if they find out you wil get your visa canx, print off the form 126 and 80 and you wil see what questions are asked and one question is - have you ever been admitted to hospital for treatment - copolscopy would come under that, your copolscopy wil not go agaisnt you, lying will.

I want to be confident , but im like you a rollercoaster of emotion grrrr, we have been together nearly 3 years and have nearly bought a house , lived together @ our parents in Aus and UK,as were saving to buy a house, but fell through due to structual probs so thats we decided to go back to oz, we are getting married in July, you need your NOIM (a copy) to send to immi and confirmation from your celebrant or whoever is marrying you confirming wedding date. we have a joing bank account since July 06 in Aus and UK and loads of solicitor and mortgage adv letters. With the PMV you dont need to prove so much you are living together, just that you are in relationship, pics, bday cards, stat decs, but the more proof you send the better. When it comes to your spouse you wil need evidence of a long term commitment to each other, getting marrie disnt enough, so would advise when you are in Canada put everything in joint names and keep everything from tickets to cards to emails, also you need to get married 9 months from the date of PMV and apply for your Spouse, so make sure you have enough time in Nov to do this, maybe its worth cutting your canada trip a bit short and giving each other enough time to settle in OZ before wedding, you can also set up home togther then or set up joint bank accounts in Oz, just get really prepered and put everything you can in joint names. @ end of day if it is a genuine application and there are no police convictions and serious med probs you wil be fine!! Its just less stressful for use two if you get as much proof as poss for when your spouse application arrives.

bug me a smuch as you want, I have bugged loads of people on this forum x

I had my first one when I was 16 (oops giving something away there arnt I) anyways glad I did cos had abnormal cells @ 17 and they were removed @ 20 and have had clears since (fingers crossed) All she needs to do is cal up her GP or local Family planning clinic - they cant refuse what is your right and if they do tell her to say she is getting stomach pains and spotting - that will get her in . I dont think docs will refuse anyways as im 99% positive she should of received one by now and I wouldnt be surprised if the cervical screenig centre has sent her a few letters ?? Best to take care of yourself .

OMG I haven't even THOUGHT about the spouse visa... getting through this is hard enough!

Yep you are right about the medical - I forgot about the forms I have to fill out, so of course will mention anything on there. Good job you reminded me - I am going for them tomorrow!

That's a good idea about post office recorded delivery - I'll do that too.

Yeh I think we have loads of proof in all the stat decs that we have been together for 2 years and living together for one and have pics, cards etc. We were going to get joinet bank account in canada anyway cos it will be easier, but yes, will have to start thinking about the next stage I spose and collecting 'evidence'!! gawd, they make me feel like I'm lying all the time tho, don't you think?! 'proving' everything is so damn tiresome!

Yes may have to get back from canada a bit sooner than we thought in time to get everything sorted. I think this is one of the things the CO is going to bring up, because our wedding is booked for 21st November, so not leaving much time to then send off for spouse visa.
BTW, do you know how much the next stage costs? and is it as much of an ordeal as this step?!
also, do they always ask for your passport to stamp visa in, cos I might get bored hangin around for a response and take off to Canada before I get a reply!!

If you have been together for 2 years and living together for 1 why not just apply for temp residency visa? My OH and I have been together since July 06 and living together since September 06. We don't have a great deal of supporting evidence like some people but I think it's enough. When we first started living together the landlord was none the wiser so I was never included on the tenancy agreement nor was my name (or hers for that matter) on any of the bills. This went on until last August so evidence of our living arrangements before this time are a bit dodgey. All we have as proof we were living together back then will be a statement from a housemate and the post I had sent to that address. Since August though we have moved to a new place and are both on the agreement and all bills are in joint names and have had a joint account since July.

We are applying in April.
