Hello all bit of a late entrant on this thread but I'm here now!
I'm a pommie who met my Aussie OH backpacking in 2002. We've been married since end of 2003, came back to the UK to live and have been here ever since.
Don't think a day goes by where he isn't homesick/fed up with weather/grumping about the dark winters/stealth taxes etc etc....
So I have finally given in and said 'let's go!'. Hard though as I love my job and my Dad is here...an immigrant from World War II who deserves as much happiness as we can provide so have stuck around longer so he can spend time with our daughter.
But the OH's visa is up in Nov again, so we're trying to go for that.
Yeah, cutting it fine I know!
Almost got everything together...just a few more things to do
No time for the nervous breakdown until after the forms go off!! Hope to be a July applicant. So glad I've found BE for info and support

Hello Rach and allcomers...
No, the tiny monkey is British (well half Aussie, quarter Polish, quarter English!) by birth so is going on my application. We might get to have our citizenship ceremony together one day, my little pumpkin and me! How could they refuse a smile like that (see avatar)!??
The OH wants to head back to Eltham, nr Melbourne. We have lots of great friends there, as well as his family
I'm keen to check out Perth tho and see if it is good to live in, never been, hoping to go for a month on the way out, after seeing my sister in Poland and other sister in the US.BRING ON THE JET LAG!!!!!!
His bro is in Perth.
Families eh, I can hardly keep up with them all!
Off to book the meds now. Chichester seem very knowledgeable and good price

You know that you can get Aussie citizenship and passport for the little one dont you? I think it works out cheaper than putting the baby on your application. Or I could be wrong - it definitely worked out cheaper for us with three children, plus it meant we didnt have to worry about doing the whole Aussie citizenship thing for the kids in the future. Anyway - I am sure you know all this already!

Thanks, actually I didn't know that.
But she is allowed to be included on my application (as far as I can tell!) so is the same price for both of us.
We'd saved for 2 lots of £650 for 2 applications, then read that she could go on mine and found ourselves £650 better off instantly!
I'm thinking it is complicated enough already, might just leave it as is for now - the OH's UK visa expires in Nov so we're on a bit of a tight timeline!
And would love for us to have our citizenship ceremony together, maybe with her uncle who was adopted from India...we could make it a proper family affair!

As for time though - it is v.quick. I applied for citizenship for the kids and a week later the certificates came back. OH then went to Australia House in London to hand in the passport applications and a week later they were back - they dont mess about these Aussies!!
I am hoping that when I apply for the spouse visa it will be a similar turn around time - seems to be the experience of lots of people on here.
Speaking of kids - time to feed the clan......better get off the computer!

Hi,
Just thought id say a wee hello again and hows everyones visas goin?
I had kind of put it off for the last 2 years and only really got my act together and went and saw a migration agent 2 weeks ago, now im nearly ready to send it off (i think) got my medical next week, already had my chest xray, police check is back, stat decs from friends and familys in, evidence of relationship gathered.
I think the only thing ive got left to do is our personal statement (which is making me cringe coz i can just imagine all the visa processing people sitting on their lunch breaks reading out our statements and have a right laugh!)
the process of doing mine seems to be going by really quickly and im getting really nervous about the whole thing
