I don't find it too complex, but then I have a better attention span than most. It comes as little surprise that your average American struggles to keep track, however...

Yep, the map changes - if a city/fortress is in the story, then it tends to be in the episode's title sequence. So, for instance, Riverrun has popped up, Dany's journey means whichever city she is currently besieging is in the title, and Winterfell is a smoking ruin currently.

There's one Robb (Stark) and there was the King Robert Baratheon in the first series. IIRC that's the sum total of 'Robs' you've seen.

It's much less taxing that the books - multiple characters get compressed into one, and whole storyline elements are chopped out. When you consider at each location there are usually less the 7 main characters, it should be perfectly possible for the brain to remember them.

Of course, if you aren't remembering the locations, then you can't remember the characters by their location, so it would be harder.

I read a very interesting, and quite well thought out article that suggested that the Game of Thrones world was actually within a Dyson Sphere, as suggested by the opening titles. It went into quite some detail on the matter, but failed to consider the fundamental truth that it still gets dark in GoT, which of course wouldn't really be possible in a DS.

Let me see if I can find it...

I've seen Episode 1 and Episode 2 and the only thing that confused me was which one was the 'Chief', as they both seemed to be fairly senior. Methinks the fat one was the King (he ate like a King) but at times Sean Bean seemed to be 'top dog'.

I thought that one of the actresses looked a bit like Rachel Weiz -....but wasn't.
The most taxing thing for me was trying to keep track of the time in each episode when a notable actress disrobed...on the basis that I would be able to return to that point for review later...

I take it most people watching have seen the Red Wedding by now - no comments?

I seems to have gone down as expected in the US

Sorry, but I did give it at least 4 days, and you only have a title (which gets mentioned everywhere anyway)

As you can see, all those people videoing were expecting it, from reading the books. It's why the producers originally wanted to adapt the books.

There's also something known as the Purple Wedding coming up...

If you have read the books it wasn't a surprise. I thought it was quite well done, apart from the lack of blood. If your throat is slit the blood, (which would be much redder due to the carotid artery carrying oxygenated blood to the brain) would fountain out up to a distance of 6 feet and keep pumping out in spurts for at least 15 seconds before subsiding to a dribble.

Can you imagine the hell they would have caught if they had done that - considering the screams relative to what they did do (particularly since they had to off Talisa as well).

I notice there has been no 'swap' to date either....
