British Expats - The Official Loners Thread

hi all,

great to hear about people's journeys so far.

i'm going to be a total loner!! moving to sydney in jan (visa permitting) for a new job and new life.

will be strange to leave my parents and sister behind, and all my friends. but i think at 22 y/o, now is probably the best time. (and i've wanted to emigrate to oz since i was about 8....)

hope i manage to fit in and make friends when i get there....

Oh Steve!! You are bringing tears to my eyes! Was originally following a guy to Oz but the long distance relationship was too much for us. I would say that if its meant to be you will both keep things going, but its hard and the distance will be the test.

Hi everyone - I posted on here a while ago just when I'd lodged my visa - well, update - I'm here now... I landed in Sydney last Wednesday and have just been finding my feet ever since. I am in accomodation provided by work at the moment and looking for places to stay, i am working in the city so need somewhere within easy commuting distances...
Are there any meets anytime soon... I need to make some friends before I get time to be homesick... and soon!!!!
Sydney seems a great place with so much to do... just need to find what to do and where / when....
Would love to hear from you all...

Nope, but there is a cbd job I'm looking into. Bloody agencies, i'd be surprised if their job description didnt say 'no brain use experience necessary'. hows your search going?
