I had my medical done on 2 Oct 2008 (as a loner) and I havent received my medical results back nor a tracking number so I can only assume they havent been sent off by the doctor yet. Can anyone remember how long they had to wait from initial medical to hearing something about results or that they had been posted? I dont want to call the doctor and complain/grumble/groan if the standard is a month wait!! I'm getting really impatient which isnt a good attribute to have but....:curse: |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
Officially joining the thread ... heading out in Feb, March!
Perth to kick off then maybe heading over east depending on how things pan out workwise!? |

Then, for me, it's about a week for them to reach Sydney and according to latest update, it is taking HOC/LCU about 3-4 weeks to process meds. Hope that gives you an idea of timeline, reckon you should phone your doctor and ask them what the story is. |

I had my medical on Wednesday and all paperwork etc is being posted next Tuesday. So 6 days I guess for all results to come back and doctor told me that the wait is for the chest x-ray film to be ready.

Anyhow, she said (after grumbling and groaning) that they were sent on 17 October!! I didnt get given a tracking number or anything... But at least i should be grateful that they have been sent! I'm paper based so who knows whether DIAC/HOC have received them! thanks for your advice and im pleased i did call the docs! :) |

Do they not do the x-ray same day? Mine was ihn the post a couple of hours after I was irradiated.

Just called them (the doc centre) to say I haven't heard anything and the doctors secretary (in a very 'im pissed off' voice) said, "we dont tell you when they are posted and you dont get results of the tests"...

Gives a fortnightly update from HOC and from memory I think there is an email address that you can use to ask if they have received your meds. Don't think that HOC treat online and paper based any differently. Am sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong. |
Re: The Official Loners Thread
Hi
After much dilly dallying about over here in Blighty, I have decided to take up a one year working visa in OZ. I have decided to start in Melbourne. Alone. Everything has now been arranged for my passage to Australia. I know its not a permamnent immigration but I was just hoping if you could give me some information on accommodation etc. i.e. Do I stay in a hostel? Do I look for a short term rent? I would be really grateful for any information guys. As you know, having a great time and meeting friends is top of the agenda, worrying about anything like accommodation shouldn't have to sour any time I have in Australia :-D. Thanks in advance, Michael. |

Re: The Official Loners Thread
I intend to work when I get there (I get there January 21st by the way).
What kind of price should I be looking at as 'decent' for hostel accommodation? |
