Stop doc, you're making me jealous!!!!!! :p

Glad you got there safely and all. Wish you all the best of luck mate. At least the worst part of the process is over now (the long boring flight) and you can get on and have some fun.

What I wouldn't give for a few pokes and prods... ;P

I had my company medical on friday but got a massive stack of forms today for my visa medical...this one needs a chest x-ray, blood tests, poking, prodding, probing and deep exploration!! I'm soooo scared! At least I'm not paying for it!

COngrats Doc, glad you're enjoying Perth, the two lads I was with are there now, they've got a waterfront flat bang in the middle of the city *jealous*

I've had some proper ups and downs in the last week, almost entirely downs unfortunately.

Why you down? Homesick? Dont be. Its still raining here. Meds are totally nothing to get stressed over - x-ray takes less than 2 seconds, for your main med you get weighed, measured, sight tested, ears checked, blood pressure, blood sample, wee sample, bend your knees, touch your toes, cough, breath in, breath out - get dressed!!! Over in 10 minutes! Or less! Took me longer to get there than the whole thing including two lots of waiting. :D;)

It's not so much the meds, more the fact that now I'm on my own In Newcastle. I've had two days at work and have only met about 5 people cus my office is in a portakabin out back!! I've basically been dumped there and told to look after myself, no IT logon yet, no phone and i still have to be escorted in and out as Im not allowed the security code until I'm inducted!
My boss obviously hasn't read my contract or just doesn't care as he has made no attempt to sort out anything for me, I'm having to ask the people in my office to do it for me.
GGGAAAAAAARGH!

Thanks, I think??!

I know it'll be sorted out but it's ****ing frustrating cus the two guys who are in perth had everything waiting for them when we arrived in brisbane, they have accom and a car each and spent 3 days in meetings/training when I was sat back in the hotel doing nothing....

I am off to Sydney, hopefully mid November, resigned job but nothing else organised. Got permanent residency. 42 and single, scared and excited, but sure that is normal, you only regret the things you haven't done and you never know until you try, I am sure there will be lows and highs, but that is life, you need the lows to appreciate the highs and I am so looking forward to sailing in some sunshine...well, actually doing anything in sunshine would be a start...
Sorry to hear of "decent male" shortage...ho hum....maybe that can be added to the "Occupation in Demand" list?

I'm actually starting to hate Oz right now, it's a combination of my job, being stuck out miles from anywhere, my job, not having transport and my job lol. Work is the only thing that can distract me from being 12,000 miles from home, my friends and family but my manager hasn't got a clue and I spent the last 2 days sat on my arse doing nothing.

i can appreciate what your going through bro,

i must admit its difficult to see oz as a place to live and work when it should feel like a holiday,

but the advise ive been told by some expats i met yesterday was to get out and about by renting transport, so im off to hire a car today, no more public transport and walking for me!

dude do you have my number? pm me if you want a chat anytime

keep smiling man

Sound advice. I say find some expats who are in your area. Work might be boring but social life shouldnt suffer because of that.

cheers dude, appreciate the advice. I'm trying to keep busy but it's a massive hassle cus I can't get my own transport til I do the motorbike training, get a license and bike sorted etc...

Have been invited out for drinks by a couple of women at work which cheered me up a bit

What kind of work are you looking for? I just opened a paper and there is more than 6 pages of job adverts almost exclusively looking for technical people!!
