nice one! I finish work tomorrow. Do you have a job nige?

as for nerves.. yes a bit, but not about going somewhere new - just said goodbye to a lot of my friends and it wasn't fun, didn't feel real. One of my best mates gave me a surprise when he took me aside and whipped out a ring! But it wasn't for me, damn it! So i've now got to get back over to the UK for 3 very close friends weddings/stag dos next year..

so yeah feeling stirred up this week and can't wait to get going now and get it over with! Goodbyes suck! But very very very excited about my new life!

also i got it on with my ex at my leaving do, well you gotta right?! :p

No job yet. I'll play that by ear. I prefer to not have the hassle of phoning people late at night for a phone interview etc. I'm not worried about finding work. What about you?

Goodbyes are going to be tough but once all thats over, I'll be smiling and excited about it all.

As for getting it on with the ex, eh no thanks luv lol.

Anyway, see you in Bondi City.

well i'm in an industry that likes email communication, so i finally started applying for jobs yesterday. Want to have interviews set up when i arrive. Don't think i'd necessarily take a job offer without visiting the business, pretty important to see if you'd like to work there, social scene etc.

what's your line of work?

Sys admin. I'll most likely be doing plenty of contract work. Suits me fine. I hope to ease my way out of IT anyway and do...... something else. I kinda hope that there's **** all work in my line and I have to do something else straight away. That would be the kick I'd need. But getting over there first is whats on my mind. I'll clean toilets if I have to after that. Where abouts are you staying?

Re: The Official Loners Thread

yeah i'm sure there's always work for a sys admin.. so you might have to make that leap yourself. What do you fancy?

I'm a graphic design/web/3d man, multi talented jack of all master of none, I can also tile your bathroom if you like, build you a garden wall, cut your hedge, dig holes and cook meat on the barbie. I think that's all my talents that aren't rude.

my sister lives just out of sydney so i've got a base when i arrive, pretty lucky in that regard. But hope to be in my own place within 2-3 weeks max. Fancy Manly or Coogee, less so Bondi and Maroubra. Looked at house prices though and maroubra might be a good first home kind of place for a young 'un like me. But renting (sharing) for now of course, somewhere by the beach!

what's your plan when you touch down?

What do I fancy? Play left back for Man United. Its hard to get scouted in Ireland though lol. I'll think of something on the plane he he.

When I arrive, I've staying in Darlinghurst. I was hoping for McMahons point but twill do for the 2 weeks I have it. Jeez, I'll be there in a week and a half. Marooned on here promised to show us around.

Actually, she doesnt know about it yet but I'm sure she'll be ok with it. Or else I'll just keep asking until she caves.

hi all, never knew there were so many of us;) i arrived in brisbane last friday. once all the excitement wears off the first few days are a bit tough:(

im already working so getting visa stamped, driving license sorted and opening a bank account is a bit of a mission. the wife and kids are still in uk but hope to join me in november.

is it worth it? you bet:thumbsup: work here is awesome (well construction is anyway) havent met anyone not willing to help you out in any way at all. weathers great up here, not too hot or humid yet, but they tell me ive got a few weeks before summer really kicks off.

those who are thinking of bris, it has to be one of the nicest major cities ive ever been to. spotlessly clean, loads to do and has quite a buzz about it. traffic in the cbd has its moments, but coming from london its bloody great.

have my low moments where i miss the family but just remember why we started the whole process in the first place. off to the beech at the weekend (sunshine coast) maybe the jazz club next week. its a hard life:thumbsup::thumbsup:
