British Expats - The Official Loners Thread

Nursing degree - just feels a bit weird as I started in 2005 and all the peeps I started with will be qualified as I start my 2nd year - but hey ho

Ive been looking all over really - Perth/Brisbane/Melbourne/Adelaide - who knows, I guess it depends on the visa I go for as well, my age will be against me as im 40 this year so I may well go sponsorship, especially as I am on my own and wont have a fortune to take with me either.

I live in Hampshire with my son and daughter so that will be a huge tug for me as he has refused flatly to go to Oz.

I am going in as a dreded social worker, lol. I am sure you will settle back into uni just fine. You are very brave to go back. I am 24 and cannot wait to start my new life over there..just hope i don't get too homesick! How old is your son? i bet it will be very hard to leave him but i suppose sometimes in life we have to do things for ourselves.

My boy is almost 18 now so he has his own life to lead, hard as it is, though Im still hoping that he may change his mind, who knows?

Apart from my children I dont have any family as such so I guess in a way Im lucky that I dont have that many ties to the UK.

Hoping to be in Perth within next 6-8 months. Nick, it must be soo hard knowing your child doesn't want to come.

Tis very true. In the lonely lonely days before i decided to emigrate - regularly did food shopping on saturday evening and was followed round asda quite a few times. You spot them because they are very interested in the contents of your trolley.

Granted - the ones that followed me where usually tramps or people with their own psychiatrist but I was flattered none the less. :thumbup:
