Re: The Official Loners Thread
Thought I'd join in and say 'hello'.
I have just started on the road to Oz. Sent of my skills assessment the other day (secondary teacher) and am now waiting. I am heading out on my own (no family). I have been considering a few visa options but would ideally like to get PR for more security. Heading over during the school hols for a look around the main cities and suburbs to get a feel for which area may best suit me. I have been to Oz before, from Darwin all the way down the east coast to Sydney during my round the world travels after uni. This time I fly into Perth for a week, head on over to Brisbane and will spend around 3 weeks on the Sunshine Coast (got a couple of meetings in schools lined up), then down to Melbourne, across to Adelaide and back to Perth. 6 weeks in total. If anyone has any suggestions for places to visit, things to do etc then feel free to chip in. |

I'm a primary school teacher. Keep us updated. |

Keep us updated. Where are you looking to head to? I am waiting until after my meetings with the schools in July and will then see what my options are with regards to visas. |

After that I am undecided, up North or maybe down south near Esperance. To be honest, where ever I can get a job!!! Teaching Australia took 7 weeks to get back to me. |

I have never been to Perth but for some reason I have never fancied the west coast?? Don't know why...just a gut feeling. Unfortunately Queensland are no longer sponsoring so I would need to go down the employer sponsorship route. Hopefully that's an option for me, otherwise it's Victoria or WA for sponsorship. From what I understand employer sponsorship visas are granted much quicker. I think the NT would be a real trial and part of me would love the challenge. Hope you are not waiting too long on your visa. When are you hoping to make the final move? |
