You're all making me start to dread our friends coming over. The friends I can handle, it's their kids I wory about!! - Their (just turned) 10 year old can sit and quite happily work her way through a 12 pack of Walkers crisps in one go and the older one is just a horrible kid. Not often I say it about anyone, but I can't think of one positive thing to say about the oldest one (a girl, 15 y.o.). Want to see the friends - just a f*****g shame they'll bring the kids. I think a padlock for the fridge and all our 'good' stuff locked in a strong box in the garage. Thinking of buying a second fridge so they can have 'their' food seperate as I can't afford to but all those crisps while they are here. Watch this space.....LOL - fortunately we have until July to psyche ourselves up.

We have two fridges, we emptied one and they use it (when it suits) she lets the kids open our;s and take as they please, it winds me up no end. A lesson learned, it's just a shame the experience of having Friends (used loosely as we dont know them that well) has been soured by people who have no respect for other people's property.

It just mean's now that when real true friends want to come you will be dead against it. Different standards for different people i suppose, but in the first place i would not have dreamed of spending 3 weeks in another persons house.

I am at a loss for words at your situation, such a difficult one. Maybe they dont realise just how difficult they are being, if they live like this all the time it must just seem normal to them.

We have told friends and family that if they come to stay, we will find them accommodation so they can live their holiday the way they want to whilst we will still have to work. They seemed happy with that.

With saddle soap, if you give your local stables a ring and ask where they get theres. Might be worth a try.

So we had the same idea of using the beer fridge as ours and the other fridge as theirs due to totally diferent diets..... F**k now we have to put sons bike lock around the fridge.

We ended up asking them to leave so for their last week here they went down to the GC.
They phoned us on the Friday night to tell us they would be back at ours to pack their stuff & get organised for midday on Saturday as they had to be at the airport to check in at 4pm(to go home)
Midday came & went,come 2pm hubby & i were getting rather peeved as my daughters room & bathroom was a filthy bomb site,with all their stuff laying around,the fridge we gave them the use of was also stinking with out of date food so they had that to clear out too.
Still no sign of them,no way of contacting them,no call from either of them to say they had been held up either, so i packed all their stuff into bin-bags & their cases & hubby put all their cases & bags out on the patio, I was fuming
We jumped into the car & drove to Kallangur Tavern to calm down & get some lunch Guess who's sitting there when we get inside??........yes,they were,hubby's mate couldn't string two words together,what a state,she had had quite a few too,Malcolm asked them what the hell they were playing at,by this time it was going on 3pm,they had nowt packed,nothing cleaned,how did they plan to get my house in order & get to an airport within an hour?
Their excuse was they were waiting on a taxi-what for 3 fecckin hours?!!
Hubby told them their stuff was packed & waiting on the front patio in other words get your stuff & GTF!!
Their taxi came & we followed them back to ours,once there,hubby & i got everything off our chests,we felt we needed to & both feel a dam sight better for telling them exactly how we felt & how they treated us & our home,he never argued back & agreed they had behaved appallingly when they did get home hubby's mate has since phoned me to apologise but the damage has been done,friendship ruined,lesson learned.
Friends dont treat friends like that.

Not surprised to hear that it ended the way it did, and good on you - you had put up with their cr*p for long enough, and they showed a complete lack of respect or appreiciation for your home and hospitality. Still think you were being too nice in packing up their stuff - I'd have chucked it in the dustbin!

I'm sure their behaviour is the exception rather than the norm, but it does make me very wary about having people to stay!
