No part of the right have covered themselves in glory over this - either then or now. The reality is that all they know how to do is destroy, so that's what they are aiming to do. However what's needed is a plan for building anew, for direction and vision - and they don't have the faintest clue (I don't think anyone is going to disagree with that).

Labour is having an internal knife fight.

Frankly politics, and the democratic system, has failed massively. Total screwup, borne of their inability to work with plans & facts. Same in the EU. Same in Australia. Same in the US.

Prizes go to the first country to find a way to put adults in charge.
The remainers had their opportunity. No good pulling out the arguments retrospectively and like OzT has done and fallen into the trap of overstating what the leavers actually said just to provide an argument on a topic which is lost.

But you are right about what is needed now. No point regressing.

Smartest move now would be to work out what that great plan is - and put it into action now, before any article 50. What are they going to do, kick you out?

The problem is there IS no plan, and totally the wrong people to come up with one. It's touched on in the new Adam Curtis doco - "HyperNormalisation", which is out now. Politicians have given up on setting out plans, because it's hard. Instead just say you will navigate the decline better than the other guy.

The title of the thread is 'did the UK do the right thing in voting to leave the EU'. I'm perfectly entitled to say No and present reasons why.

Nobody fault you don't understand the word "let's". I always thought it was a pretty simple word most people understand.

Leave campaign didn't make any election pledges because it wasn't an election.
No one in their right mind would take it any other way than it is extra money for the NHS - it wasn't maybe or might have, let's means we can do it, despite Boris scratching his head. Water under the bridge I agree but a lot of people voted on a lie. Meanwhile papers like the Daily Express did their best with pictures of inflatable dinghies washed up on the Kent coast and captions like this is why we have to get out of the EU.

I think they're scared that what they work out will make Brexit seem like an even worse idea than before.

And anyone who believes it will actually happen, and that article 50 will be triggered, should be converting their life savings from GBP before the Pound takes the biggest hit during our lifetime...

You are right that it would be insane to actually go through with pressing the button - it guarantees you are going to get screwed.

However, you need to take into account that the only game the far right know is destruction. They ARE that stupid to break first, then hand it over to Labour to try to fix.

Jeremy Corbyn.........

No matter what you think of his ridiculous politics, the guy is no leader. Not in a million years

Good luck with him trying to fix anything

Are you referring to Turnbull winning?

Inflation rate rising as the pound falls, business confidence falling, the more vulnerable will be harder hit, growth slowing down ....... (won't happen, scaremongering - Gove, Johnson and Farage)

I'm referring to Bill Shortens lie about Turnbull dismantling medicare.

Free healthcare is a wondering tool to threaten the masses with.

The blind and uneducated usually fall for it.

They said that would happen in Australia a couple of years back when the dollar dived.

Guess what. The RBA is fighting deflation.

Some inflation would be a good thing at the moment - it's time to get interest rates rising

It's actually great news for my Police Pension, which grows with CPI. It's just a shame that the pounds will be virtually worthless...

+1% CPI, but -20% £ value

GBP will come back - currencies fluctuate and have different effects (good/bad) at different rates. It was at this level to the AUD only 3 years ago - but these facts don't fit in with the negative news cycle and the agenda of some on BE

Absolutely. The amount of household debt needs to be controlled.
