Re: 2nd Indian found dead
Another Indian killed in racist attack. It just keeps happening. How can we stop it?
TWO men attempting to leave Australia have had their passports seized by detectives investigating the stabbing murder of an Indian-born seasonal work contractor in the Riverina town of Griffith. They were stopped by police at the Sydney Airport departure lounge on Monday as they were about to board a flight to Nepal via Singapore. Both were questioned about their relationship to murdered 25-year-old Ranjodh Singh. The men, believed to be seasonal workers employed by Mr Singh, were taken to Mascot police station for questioning, but were later released after having their passports confiscated pending further investigations by Homicide Squad and Griffith detectives. Detectives are examining claims that Mr Singh, who lived in Wagga Wagga and recruited Indian immigrants to work on farms in the Riverina, may have been murdered in a fight over unpaid money to workers, after attending a party in Griffith on December 27 last year. His bound body, which had been set alight in an attempt to conceal his identity, was found two days later by a passer-by on the side of Wilga Road at Willbriggie. A post-mortem revealed his throat had been slashed and he suffered multiple stab wounds. Police are also understood to be investigating possible links in the murder to a sexual assault upon a woman. Officers from Strike Force Bramwell, investigating Mr Singh's murder, have renewed an appeal for information from the public, specifically the occupants of a car seen in the Griffith and Wagga Wagga area around the time of his death. Griffith Police Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Paul Smith said police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed a red 1996 model Ford Falcon with a rear spoiler in the days before and after the discovery of his body. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Griffith police via Crime Stoppers on 1800333000. |

Re: 2nd Indian found dead
apologies for the double post if it was already quoted in this thread.
Its just that this ranting about racism from Indians really annoys me. I work in the IT industry with loads of Indians. We go out drinking together and work long hours together. I dont even see them as a race as they are of all shapes, sizes, colours and ethnic backrounds. I really do not see that there is targeted racism against Indians. I saw more racism when I lived in Leeds and Bradford a few years ago where you really do have divided communities. The average Aussie would not be able to tell the difference between an Indian, or a Bangladeshi or a Tamil. Are these guys in Melbourne wearing Indian flags or T-shirts with India written all over them? What are Australians supposed to do to stop these people insulting us? Should we assign a cop to escort evory indian 24X7???? |

I said I was sorry for what happened and was embarrassed that it had happened. He replied tearfully, " I wouldn't mind so much but I'm Indian, not a dirty Paki!" Racism is going to be here a while. |

From some of what I've read on this thread, an Indian murdering an Aussie doesn't count. Not sure why.
I hope they hang both murderers or for that matter all murderers. Feel so bad for the 3 month old baby:( |

I hope they hang both murderers or for that matter all murderers. Feel so bad for the 3 month old baby:( There are obviously lots of Indians who realise and accept that racism occurs everywhere and that many of the recent attacks in Australia were not racist based. I'm not having a go at all Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi etc nationals. It's just how I read these threads. |

It's usually someone from Punjab driving (why so many from Punjab ?). Have some interesting chats with these guys about life, the universe & everything. They usually have some great stories, as all cabbies do, once you get them chatting. The anecdotal evidence certainly suggests that a disproportionately high number of the taxi drivers in Melbourne originate from India. Article from 2007.. http://www.fisa.org.au/content/melbo...eath-fresh-air ."the international students who comprise about a third of Melbourne's 10,000 taxi drivers are essential to the smooth running of a fleet which thousands of people rely on every day." and a very recent one hot off the presses today. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/vic...-1111113034780 "THERE were 12 people in my class at Silver Top's taxi-driving school. Only two of us had English as our first language. Everyone else -- Aar, Arif, Faisant, Vixy, Aman, Abdulah, Rhada and the others -- came from India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. The Silver Top school is run by Richard Kealy, who also claims a lot of the credit for putting the government-approved training course together. His sidekick, Bob Williams, tells the class on day one that he's known far and wide as "Punjab" Bob, because of the number of taxi drivers from the subcontinent he's pushed through the cabbie course." |
Re: 2nd Indian found dead
This sort of thing will not help the image of Indians. I hope someone in their own community assists the police to nail these guys ...
Sydney's ATM skimming epidemic scum THEIR disguises of baseball hats and dark glasses look crude but these two fraudsters are part of a sophisticated gang using ATM skimming devices to fleece bank customers. They have downloaded stolen account details on to blank credit cards and used them across Sydney and in Canada, China and India. "It is a sophisticated organised crime network," he said. The men are described as of Indian or Sri Lankan background but police do not know if they are locals or are part of an overseas crime syndicate operating in Australia. It is the latest in the alarming card-skimming epidemic to hit Sydney. Anyone who recognises the men should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 |

Re: 2nd Indian found dead
Yeah seen it on yahoo
http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/newshom...n-mans-murder/ Mr Murdoch said: "The motive for this horrific crime is not race-related". Representatives of the Immigration Department who were present for the couple's arrest, took a number of other people into custody at the same time. While Mr Singh had been based in Wagga Wagga, police said he was working in Griffith, where the married couple lived before moving to Sydney. The investigation is ongoing, and police are calling for information about the occupants of a red 1996 Ford Falcon sedan seen at a carwash in Yambil Street, Griffith, shortly after 3am on December 29. Note immigration were present for the arrest.... I wonder if they were illegals |
