So it's ok for you to come out with 'fight mongering rhetoric' but as soon as someone pulls you up on it you accuse them of the same. Interesting attitude.

It's just that these recent attacks didn't go down well with the media and a lot of people and they termed it racist (wrongly though).

I have a very different opinion just like the majority of people here and do not believe that these recent attacks have anything to do with race.

I guess it's not just the Indian media which makes a lot of assumptions.

I can find many credible Indian sites that say Australia is not a racist country. Here's a good example:

So, it will be better to fine them (any criminals) rather than offering jails.

Really, as I said earlier, these kneejerk reactions do nothing constructive. They only add to the tensions. - Not reaction actually, just suggestion against any criminals as i mentioned in earlier post P.S., which i wrote keeping in mind entire aussie society not particular community.

Where did I say to only give offenders a fine? I was simply pointing out the idiocy of imposing mandatory 10 year prison terms. It's unrealistic and impossible to financially maintain. This is Australia, where prison is designed to rehabilitate offenders so they can become positive members of society when they are released.

Do you actually live in Australia? Have you had any contact with the justice system here? Was it as a victim, witness or offender?

No prison or no fine for offenders/criminals then how you wish to handle them? by offering free burgers & pepsi? Do you think this is an idiocy of honourable australian justice system?

I am permanent resident of australia lived in Victoria for 7 months, a minor victim, who have been offered a b**l juice by some youth at melbourne beach while standing & watching ocean quitely.

Actually - I don't think he has. If anything that was a tribute to the emerging Indian educated class - huge numbers in the face of the fact that people might think (not described here) that all people in India are peasants.

Where did I say no jail time and no fines? I think you're misreading my posts. I said your idea of mandatory 10+ year sentences for minor offences was ridiculously unrealistic.

Go back, read what I actually said and then come back to reply to my posts.

And I'm sorry, what is a b**l juice? Exactly what law of Australia is a young person offering you juice breaking? I'm not sure how someone offering you something makes you a victim of crime, either.

And i think you didnt got me what i was suggesting. My suggestion was about a notable period of jail (not compulsory 10 years, it might be 5/6/7/8/9 years too) OR a Notable Fine, Which might be helpful for offender/criminals to think and sometimes may be forceful to them to not Involve or Practice any Criminal Activities. I just wanted to suggest any notable/high number of punishment for any criminal whether they are aussie, indian, chinese, lebanese etc. I didnt mentioned it for "minor offence" anywhere you can check it. I would also like to tell you here, "Go back, read what I actually said and then come back to reply to my posts". And i also know that i am not a Judge either in Ozland or in India, thats why i everytime used the word suggestion and i think its not considered as a crime in Ozland to give bold suggestion.

As you are a lady i would not like to describe the word "b**l juice", sorry but i simply cant. If it was any fruit juice then, i would be more happy to offer them a cup of coffee/tea whatever they like in return. And if you can believe me it takes my some hours to find & understand the meaning of newer kind of Juice which i heard first time (hopefully last time too) in my entire life since yet. :o

I have 5 brothers, have had 2 husbands, work with hundreds of male doctors, have worked in sexual health clinics and mental institutions and worked my way through school waitressing in a bar. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing that would shock me.

I've figured it out on my own anyway, so tell me, how does some guy propositioning you in a park make you a victim of crime? You have not been a victim of crime if that's all you can come up with. You were propositioned by a (probably gay) man in a park. It's not uncommon in the larger cities in Australia.

I am happy to know that you are strong enough.

As far as i assumed, they dont seems as gays. Also it was not a park but the beach. I didnt mentioned myself as a victim of crime, i mentioned as a victim (common word for many use as i thought that i was - verbal abuse victim - because there were so many others (not indians but other guys but they specifically called me to come to near to them by signaling by their hand). I know that its not uncommon not in australian cities but worldwide.
