OK.
1. Our local supermarket doesn't do scotch eggs.
2. Although I found those things that you put on hoses (like Hozelock) I've not yet found one with a STOP function (the thingy that allows you to take the nozzle off without getting wet).
3. New books are expensive.
4. Rural pubs are crap (as you said) and far between. (Note rural: nothing wrong with city pubs.)
5. Beer is more expensive. I now drink more wine so I can't take the piss out of poncey wine drinkers.
How's that for starters...

Of course they are but I'm not sure working in a shop and getting $20 an hour quite matches your idea of specialised.

2. Bunnings do a similar one, so when you take of the nozzle, the water supply stops.
Or:

is also available in NSW for $5.95 AUD or (£2.53)

I do apologise for the positive nature of this post... so...
I positively agree that Books are expensive here...

I was taking the piss out of the OP, as half the "British Expats", term used loosely, on this site couldn't be counted as some of the sharpest either.

I'd like to know how many "rural" pubs you have been to? Better yet, have you spent anytime in rural areas, and I don't mean outer suburbs?

There are quite a few reasonable local pubs. However they all have tellies. Great conversalists Australians aren't they. Indeed ,books are expensive. Mmm. Thought provoking isn't it.

Odd comment
, since most towns can have up to 5 or 6 pubs and clubs. At least they are down to earth and most have some atmosphere, with none of the shite that is found in so-called city "pubs", which are pubs in name only now. A proper term for city pubs could be sterile boutique hotels with no atmosphere.
