I think we have lost it somewhere here :D

I never said anyone on this thread said that Elizabeth is rough, I was just making a statement that I don't think it's that bad - not perfect, but not bad - as I grew up in a lot worse.

You thought I had assumed someone was knocking the suburbs, so I said not yet they haven't - meaning I'm sure someone will say something about them before the thread dies a death.

I know all about the snowtown murders etc, but that's irrelevant as I haven't even said anything about them.

I'm going to lie down now

Joking that no one had yet suggested Adelaide was rough but to give it time. She wasn't referring to the serial killings

However, you have now made Hills Boy very happy ;) "
I would like to ask the mods to hold a stewards enquiry: no thread on the pros and cons of Adelaide is complete without some numpty mentioning Snowtown. So far we've had four pages and no reference to barrels. C'mon, folks. Don't disappoint.

I think at the end of the day when moving anywhere, if you've done you're research and you like the look of it then come and give it a go. Living here is the only way you'll know if it suits or not.
I've spent nearly half my life here and I'm living in the 'dreaded' northern suburbs. I've had no problems up here, there's lots of facilities and I even shop at Elizabeth without fearing for my life! I came as a twenty year old and had no expectations and only one wee tourist book to go by. At times I find it boring and at others I thank God I live in such a lovely place.

I find it quite frustrating reading posts on here at times as people are looking for some perfect place with a perfect house and pool ,best school best everything and the fact of the matter is that nowhere and nothing is perfect.
After living in dirty grey Britain, getting up to the sunshine every morning is perfect enough most days.:)

Very true. :)

I realised a long time ago that life isn't perfect, and never would be, since then I have just been happy with what I have got and I just make the most of it.

Its not dirty where I live....and theres nothing I dislike about England, I love it. Its green, fresh and fab! I dont know why I left it to be honest.

Presumably because you, like many others, lost sight of that for a while. Sometimes it takes leaving somewhere to prove to you that it is the best place for you. Glad you're happy. Britain is fab as far as I'm concerned :D

This is very true, and I agree, its just that when you have left a good life in the UK, you want to feel its all been worth it! As I always say it depends what you are looking for doesn't it? If I had to stay in Adelaide, well I d rather be back in Portsmouth.....so Sydney is worth a go!

I am glad you are happy where you are, that's all that matters at the end of the day.

I didn't dislike the UK, I have been really lucky to have had a pretty good life there as well, just time for something else now and for me and my family Adelaide is just right. And I am really luck to have some fantastic friends here too, which I think made a big difference in me settling into life here. :)

Kristo you don't get it. Like any ex South Australian I've met we get over it almost immediately. Just wish I could have escaped earlier but hindsight is a wonderful thing..
