I would like to ask the mods to hold a stewards enquiry: no thread on the pros and cons of Adelaide is complete without some numpty mentioning Snowtown. So far we've had four pages and no reference to barrels. C'mon, folks. Don't disappoint.
"

Hm, third post in a row from me: should have multi-thingyed.

Now I really expected some interstate numpty (or UK-based person who's not been here) to raise serial killers (sorry pompeyblond, but how could let the side down? At least you could have waited until you'd crossed the border). But there you go: it's official. No post on the pros and cons of Adelaide is complete without a few comments on killings. The casual reader may well leave these threads with the impression that all murders in the history of this continent happened in Adelaide.

To the OP, steer well clear of this place: the boredom will result in (a) killing yourself; (b) killing someone else or (c) be killed by some who couldn't think of anything better to do (I almost forgot (d) being killed by an ex-Adelaidian who decided to put out out of your misery while on a trip back from the Gold Coast to see the relies/friends who insist on staying here, despite there being nowt to do in these parts.)

Sprintman:I like your sense of humour!A little about myself:I was born in England, emigrated with my family as a child, and spent 28 yrs living in SA until I decided to return to England to live a few years ago.Debs:I know where you're coming from.Yes I liked living in SA,it suited me at the time, but something was stirring in me to travel.Hence my return to the UK.I feel SA is a good place, and yes there are alot of places to visit as people have mentioned before.Someone said it gets boring after a while because once you've seen say the Barossa, yes you've seen it,but could'nt you say that about everywhere you go?Yes its pretty quiet but maybe thats a good thing? As a young adult I had a vibrant exciting social life, mainly going to see live bands play ect.Later in life when I settled down and had kids we moved up country and my life changed again, living in a small country town.I guess to the original poster it depends what you expect?Sometimes expectations can be totally different from reality!!!!SA is'nt perfect, what place is,but I guess it depends what you're interested in,and what you like doing?

Yes like 99.99999% of ex Croweaters. I'm thinking there are more leaving than entering, I'm surrounded by them and more every day. Lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. Brits give the place a wide berth

I know I am, plus the sun is out again today - another lovely Feb day! Blue skies, you would never believe we get that here in the UK do you? Awww well, if thats how you convince yourself its better in Adelaide, i'll leave ya to it.

You seem to be the one going to great lengths to convince yourself you're in the right place. I didn't leave the UK in a pram, I KNOW the sun does not shine MOST days but if that's what you choose to believe then that's fine. AND at NO time have I said it's better in Adelaide.

Why are you hanging about in an Australia forum for Expats anyway? You didn't like it here, you're so glad to be in the UK yet you're in here sniffing out wee bits of info on Aus. Surely you'd be better help to people wanting to move back to the UK or in a totally UK forum?

No, its just the most interesting fact about the place!

Re: what is adelaide like

Not just the murders but SA also had the biggest car crashes. I remember one where the bodies were in the trees ( 5 dead from memory) and another where the engine was 200 metres from the car itself.
