Hi there Cathy,
You really have to have an agent to see these things through if your doing it yourself , eg. its wood, when I bring items back from Cambodia/Laos, Thailand I have stood in many a quarantine Q so bringing home a sofa hahaha would be interesting. The shop in Karratha does all all the importing , customs, quarantine etc and actually the prices are very reasonable and last for life. I know there are places in Tasmania and the mainland that you can get Bali furniture maybe slightly more expensive but certinly worth it. Cathy it is beautiful there thats for sure, but then I am an asian freak, (I have a Korean son) and I am sure your suitcases will be full when you embark on those sort of trips. Regarding your comment on "customs" yes understandably they are very strict, but they are sensible with it, they know what disease they are looking for, I declare all wood to be on the safe side and havent had a problem yet.
How did your viewing go Cathy?
It's so hot here tonight, difficult to sleep, just had another shower and drinking a juice to cool down, soon time for work. speak later

Hi Sam, that's good if the shop you buy the furniture in handles all the paperwork required for sending the stuff over to Tasmania. I've seen some beautiful pieces of furniture in houses advertised for sale on the Island, so i've been assuming people have either bought the pieces in shops in Tas or have got them in Asia somewhere.... definitely my kind of furniture.

We didn't have any viewers this weekend unfortunately. We were hoping to have some and got the place all spick & span just incase, but no phonecalls from the agent.
I hope it isn't too hot for you at the moment....Is it a very dry heat?

Oh Cathy what a bummer about the bloke messing you around. At least now you know what you want and hopefully with the recent percentage drop again the market will get moving. At least you still have the rental option as that side is booming still, you would rent in Tassie anyways for a while till you know what area you want to be in. Will keep all crossed that you get some viewers this week. x
Just our luck
But hopefully it will encourage other people to get new mortgages... Things have quietened down again i think. A lady across the road to us is trying to sell a maisonette - has been up for sale for ages now....and as far as we know - apart from one couple viewing the other week she's had no viewers either... Another family waiting to move to Perth have had their house up for sale since last July and have only had 3 viewers and theirs is in a nice countryside setting - 4bed semi - bargain price now - and still no buyers... Fed up with all the doom and gloom of it all really.A friend of mine went to Basildon shopping centre Saturday - i havent been there for a few years but she goes often and she said it was like a ghost town and i've heard Lakeside Shopping centre is unusually quiet of an evening... I reckon the credit crunch is definitely start to affect normal families now... people either haven't got any money to spend or if they have they're hanging onto it just incase....

Renting out the house is our 2010 option....hopefully wont get to that!

Glad to see you're planning on being back in Tas by the end of this year as well... Will be nice if we do get a summer this year here
- and you'd be lucky then to arrive and get another one!

dont worry, things will turn around, the market has to stabalise again, thousands looking for new properties and your in essex so handy for London. One of my sons lives in Bow, not too far from you, Victoria Park on the canal, so people will be wanting your property particularly with kiddies and wanting to leave London. If they do away with Stamp duty which they have got to do the market will move again, hang on in there girl. I feel sad for the ex pats over in Euro world, living on pensions, now that must be hard bless them.
Dry heat Cathy, and when the plane door opens pow, i hits you, the flight attendants seem happy to let us all off and fly away hehehehe. speak soon x

the Spirit of Tasmania is a great boat, and camping is beautiful in Tas. We prefer camping bush (and somewhere I have a great book about camping free in Oz) but there are loads of places where you can camp...http://www.forestrytas.com.au/visiting/camping... theres an abundance of camp sites, Coles Bay etc, depends where and what you are looking for. In the Tamar Valley where we have a house, there is Beauty Point and Greens Beach. (We are North)... Freycenet Wine Glass Bay is stunning and we have spent a week or so there, I am sure other people have something to contribute to this as well. Strahan is also beautiful for camping and there is also a wonderful railway which ambles through the man ferns (my husband used to go to school on this railway) wonderful boat trips you can make over there as well. Cradle Mountain is also gorgeous... the boat comes into Devonport so usually our friends go to the furthest point and work their way back to Devonport for the journey back.http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/fares/. You cant take fruit/honey flowers etc over to Tassie, just go into the website.

Hi
Thanks for the lovely barbie Donna, the food was lovely
The kids enjoyed themselves too, they keep asking for some chickens now!!
Managed to get lots more done in our garden yesterday, it was a gorgeous day. Will have to have a garden warming party before the weather gets too cold, will let you know.

Wow good luck for your Citizenship! Our 2 years comes up in October, we'll be going for ours then.

I have some more news on the twins front, I had my 20 week scan on friday and the doc is 90% sure that I'm having identical girls. We are over the moon.
