We were lucky and got ours in May 07 so just scraped through you had to have a PR visa before June 07 to still qualify for the 2 year living in Aus. That's a big shame about your friends son though, I bet he was gutted.
I'm ok thanks Sam, my back aches loads and my legs are feeling the extra weight, and I have terrible reflux, but apart from that I am really well.
Duncan had to go to a funeral today one of his workmates brother got killed in a road accident at the styx he had a collision with a log truck and died instantly. It was in the paper last week you may have read about it. Its a terrible tragedy, the poor bloke was on his way home and looking forward to a week off fishing.

Hmmn I just checked out the Australian Gov website on this subject and this is what it says:
If people became permanent residents before 1 July 2007 and apply before 30 June 2010, they must have been physically present in Australia as a permanent resident for a total of two years in the five years before applying, including one year in the two years before applying.
It's not very clear if they mean when your visa was granted or the date you arrived in Australia. I'm hoping it's when your visa was granted if so then we are ok, otherwise we will have to wait 2 more years!

Was lovely to meet you both Possums and thank Colin for coming down and picking me up to get the bike. Really appricate it, I have been off last couple of days with the bug feeling a bit better now.
Hope to meet up again soon.
As for cost of tinned toms they are around $1.80 for a large can of own brand. We are off shopping later once we have been we will scan the bill for you to see what the cost is.

Seriously though, that would be a great idea about the bill (if you dont mind doing that) - will be interesting to see.

Hey Cathy great news on the viewer! Good luck with that. What a shame about your chimnea, we had one back in Mk, but I gave it to my dad, I really wish we had bought it out with us though, it was lovely on a chilly evening sitting by the chimnea with a glass of wine. Tea bag has one and we often sit by it of an evening under the stars, lovely.
I know - really annoying about the chimnea - Andy will have to take a trip to the dump at some point to get rid of it now! We do have a gas patio heater though which we're bringing with us... So hopefully i'll still get to sit outside at some point!
And as for germs, well you can keep them up there thank you very much!!

My Jared's a nightmare for sticking his elbows and knees into me when he climbs all over me! If you tell him to sit next to you he still interprets it to mean virtually on your lap!

I'd forgotten you never arrived until later in the year 2007 so i think the same might apply to you.

Possoms I now know what you mean about learning all the stuff for the citizenship, I sent off for the book and it came today. OMG!! is all I have to say on that subject! I'm sure Duncan will be fine though, he is very knowledgeable about all kinds of history and such like. But me on the other hand, well who knows!
Thanks for the link on the book store, that's great, I'm sure Duncan will be ordering some books from there. I've just borrowed a book on bringing up twins, I need all the help I can get! lol

Hiya i've read quite a bit of it know and if you look at the questions at the back then fill in the answers reckon you will be right, just need to remember the dates. plus its multiple choice so the answer will jog your memory hopefully!!

ok yes its from when you entered the country on your visa, so did you validate prior to moving here? because those dates will count.

see we arrived march 07 so were ok but also we had validated our visas in 06, had to cos house hadnt sold!

I'm not sure how much it costs, is it expensive? I guess you have the cost of the test and then also the Oz passport after?

Definitely can see things are more expensive from your list...but i know you dont get quite as many offers over there do you? i know it's been said before though that i guess it's the price you have to pay for living somewhere so lovely!
