I'm ok thanks Sam, my back aches loads and my legs are feeling the extra weight, and I have terrible reflux, but apart from that I am really well.
Duncan had to go to a funeral today one of his workmates brother got killed in a road accident at the styx he had a collision with a log truck and died instantly. It was in the paper last week you may have read about it. Its a terrible tragedy, the poor bloke was on his way home and looking forward to a week off fishing.
That's ok then, our neighbours were told it is effective from when you became permanent residents here in Oz not when you issued your PR visa but they've probably got it wrong!! They got all the paperwork together for his army application and Angus spent about an hour witnessing and signing it all, only for them to find out he was not eligible. They moved from Qld because they found it too hot, they have had coats on ever since they arrived in December, even on sunny days!!

Sorry to hear about Duncan's mate, there do seem to be more fatalities on the roads here, it's scary......

Hmmn I just checked out the Australian Gov website on this subject and this is what it says:

If people became permanent residents before 1 July 2007 and apply before 30 June 2010, they must have been physically present in Australia as a permanent resident for a total of two years in the five years before applying, including one year in the two years before applying.

It's not very clear if they mean when your visa was granted or the date you arrived in Australia. I'm hoping it's when your visa was granted if so then we are ok, otherwise we will have to wait 2 more years!

As for cost of tinned toms they are around $1.80 for a large can of own brand. We are off shopping later once we have been we will scan the bill for you to see what the cost is.
Gary Vikky and Hollie
Hi Wow $1.80 for tomatoes! I think i'll be walking around like this on my 1st big shop
Seriously though, that would be a great idea about the bill (if you dont mind doing that) - will be interesting to see.

Thanks Possums!

Vicky said something about how we dont pay tax on books in the UK where as we do here so that makes a difference. of course love em or hate em places like Tescos can afford to sell so cheap and well thats what we are used to arent we.

Forgot about tax being on books in other countries. I dont think it should be - especially where school books are concerned !
oh dear but yeah you become climatised when you start seeing tomatoes on special at $1.50 and think bargain lets have some!!

Well they are low-cal so maybe i'll be eating a lot of them then!

good idea with the scan.

Tea bag has one and we often sit by it of an evening under the stars, lovely.

I know - really annoying about the chimnea - Andy will have to take a trip to the dump at some point to get rid of it now! We do have a gas patio heater though which we're bringing with us... So hopefully i'll still get to sit outside at some point!

And as for germs, well you can keep them up there thank you very much!!
Seriously though I hope you are all on the mend, there is nothing worse than being kept awake by a stinking cough and cold. Well maybe being kept awake by two bubs using your insides as a boxing gym!
Might as well get used to the boxing gym bit with the bubs inside - you wait till you have two of them jumping on you once they're on the outside!
My Jared's a nightmare for sticking his elbows and knees into me when he climbs all over me! If you tell him to sit next to you he still interprets it to mean virtually on your lap!

Sorry to hear about Duncan's workmates brother Kerry. How awful & sad.

We got our PR visas April 07 - and we were told that because we were not actually residing in Oz by July 07 we need to wait the full 4 years from when we actually do arrive before applying...
I'd forgotten you never arrived until later in the year 2007 so i think the same might apply to you.

Thanks for the link on the book store, that's great, I'm sure Duncan will be ordering some books from there. I've just borrowed a book on bringing up twins, I need all the help I can get! lol

Glad you had a good time at Bridport Gary and family, we'll have to get our butts up there one day and check it out for ourselves.

ok yes its from when you entered the country on your visa, so did you validate prior to moving here? because those dates will count.

At least you can hang on to your money for a bit longer then

I'm not sure how much it costs, is it expensive? I guess you have the cost of the test and then also the Oz passport after?

We'll have to do the 4 years as well but i'm not worried either... But i know that i'll end up living in Oz definitely for 4 years at least though as its something i want to do before i'd consider moving elsewhere...

Hollie looks like a right cutie! It's a lovely picture of her. I like the 3rd picture - the beach. Very nice indeed

Definitely can see things are more expensive from your list...but i know you dont get quite as many offers over there do you? i know it's been said before though that i guess it's the price you have to pay for living somewhere so lovely!
