Sydney VS Melbourne

Re: Sydney VS Melbourne
Atm in Sydney there is tension between the biker gangs. IMO there is little attention paid to your nationality as far as jobs are concerned provided you can speak and write well enough, and that goes for native English speakers too! Out here in the 'burbs we have no probs with "tension", but like any big city you have certain areas where there is an underclass with tendencies towards violence/crime. I am sure Melbourne is not entirely free of that either.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Caroline.
Yes it rains more in Sydney, but it is in short bursts. In Melbourne you can experience 4 seasons in one day. Just depends on what you like with weather- eg. some people like the cold, others prefer heat. As a new migrant pom it still astonishes me when the weather forecaster is excited about a "rain event" even though I know large parts of Oz are drought affected. Just what you are used to I supposed.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

If it is old news, then thats good.
Your correct in saying Melbourne is not entirely free of gang tensions and violence and crime.
It certainly can get cold in Melbourne too. We regularly get days in the winter where the temperature gets to a top of only 12 or 13 degrees. It's amazing how cold that seems after a couple of years here.

Plus when we get a change come through the temperature can drop by 15 degrees or more in 20 mins.
I reckon you could get Fog, Rain and warm Sunshine in one day though.

I only spent a few days in Melbourne last year and that is what I experienced. Not exactly proof but enough evidence for a forum

But when people from the UK hear the stereotype "4 seasons in one day" it doesn't really give them a real feeling for what it is really like, does it?
I think "England plus 10 degrees and loads more sunshine" would be a better phrase.

Definitely, and I have experienced those three in a day in London too.

Funny how people view different things, I thought the Layout in Sydney was more intriguing interesting because of its haphazard approach, you never know whats around the corner.
