While OZ is far from perfect I feel that in terms of opportunity it offers so much more. I agree the tele is awful, yet when I was out there I didn't watch much anyhow.
The UK is overrun, overcrowded, bursting with red tape and handing power over to a centralised government in Brussels. And while I know that some parts of the uk are so fantastic to live in, many now can't afford to.
Fair play for starting this thread and I guessed you know you'd get a bit of a forum bashing!
Ive only about 20 posts on here, yet have been on here for ages, but can someone please explain what a bloody troll is!

Someone who posts a deliberately inflammatory post just to stir up trouble.
More or less.

Australia behind the UK? Yeah right! Since when? The other way around if anything.
The UK is close to europe, which is also behind Australia.
Australia is very much like the US in many ways, with a bit of Asian influence as well.

Regarding Germany invading other countries, what about the British Empire which involved Britain invading half the world and enslaving and slaughtering
millions of innocent native people. Regarding Ireland being neutral during WW2
why should they have fought for Britain a country that had slaughtered , starved to death and treated as second class citizens the Irish in their own country. You said the Irish are gutless, well they had the guts to take on
the British army , the world superpower at the time and defeat them in 1920's and gain independance.
The second World ' WARD'. You have Oxford and lmperial University degrees
and can't spell ' WAR '.

Personally I enjoy socialising, especially in Pubs, this is not possible in vast chunks of Oz.
Got to agree there
Outside of Sydney, the suburbs and smaller regional centres are very, very quite compared to UK/Europe. People may well bemoan the rat race of the UK, but places like the Sunshine coast resemble retirement villages, does someone in their 30s/40s really aspire to this??
Not me
As for the Med beaches being like anthills in Summer, that is a stupid statement. You can find quite beaches in the Med in Summer, just aviod the big, brash resorts. Just like you would avoid Bondi, or the main Gold Coast beaches in the Christmas holiday season.
Yes, I may consider retirement to OZ.
Me, definitely not
endless BBQs and days on the beach in faceless suburban hell
It does get a bit 'samey' week in week out.

Have I walked into a parellel universe here or is the average age of some of these posters 12?

Thats true.
Australia resembles a Texan town full of WASPs who are angry at the high level of Asian migrants overrunning their redneck isolationalist bolthole.

These meanings are from other sources:
To "troll" means to allure, to fish, to entice or to bait. An internet troll is someone who fishes for people's confidence and, once found, exploits it. Whilst the vast majority of internet users are bona fide, there are undoubtedly some trolls out there
On the Internet, troll and trolling are slang term used to describe:
1. A person who makes posts (on newsgroups or other forums) that are solely intended to provoke responses from others either Socratically or to cause annoyance or offense.
2. A post that is intended to incite controversy or cause offense. (Many posts may inadvertently cause strife as collateral damage, but they are not trolls.)

PS...... isolationalist means the policy of holding aloof from the affairs of other countries or groups.....maybe the UK are guilty of that too.....i.e. the UK have pledged £100 million to the tsunami, excuse me for this.....but thats bollocks. Kofe Annan knows that most nations who pledge will only give a percentage of that.......And another thing, no need to slag off Texans........

Dazuk/kong/eatstatic/+other names has been a troll on this board for a long time now. He's been banned numerous times & doesn't hide the fact of who he is (Kuzad under his name = dazuk backwards) & that hes only here to post inflammatory remarks. If you want to see his handy work do a search under any of those names & you'll come up with his continuing diatribe. He most definitely qualifies as a troll under this definition that ABC posted
Yes hes entitled to his opinion about Australia, but its the patronising manner, offensive generalisations & assertions that his opinion is fact that rile most people up. He, like most trolls, is best ignored (along with the other trolls who have posted in this thread).
