Even if you come without a job you should get one with in weeks of getting here and that gives you a chance to find your feet first. What area of nursing where you in again?

You may find it is the other way around as you will get a job on all the paperwork you have already submitted once you get your QLD registration sorted, on the other hand your hubby may have to prove he is a bricklayer despite already being checked out. Lot of people with manual trades take a few weeks to get sorted out.
He may have to be the house husband while you work. I think you are probably right, maybe wishful thinking on my part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont even have the excuse of registration, as that has already come through!!!! Never mind, Thanks for your advice, Jackie |

Yes I know Counthill, Where are you up too with visas and who is going with you? There is just myself and OH and we have received visas and are waiting to sell our house before hopefully going to Oz in July/August. Not much to stay here for in Oldham is there although I will miss family and friends. |

Never mind, Thanks for your advice, Jackie there's also http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...ht=bricklayers and http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...ht=bricklayers Like I said before you should still be fine as you will get a job easy while he sorts his side out. Where I work they can't get enough nurses to apply for jobs as it is outside the main city and everyone wants to be in the city hospitals. |

We are gathering evidence for the subclass 151 special migration (lived there as a kid). Where are you headed? My Dad is living in Sydney at the moment but I grew up in Melbourne and have friends there so I'm tied between the two. Agree with you - nothing to miss in Oldham except family (Mum lives here). OH works in insurance and at the moment I am working at Beever school (Oldham) as a classroom assistant but have heard it is difficult to get a job over there helping in schools so I am keeping my options open. looks like you have a difficult decision, OH has family in Melbourne and we liked it when we visited although we found it quite cold in August, Sydney is a fabulous city although we didn't get to see any of the suburbs.
