Hi Lesley,
I expect some will think us mad, but the plan is to 'try' and find a longterm rental intially, and then to buy. We are probably leaving it a bit fine only having three weeks but I am sure we would be able to find somewhere for a brief time, if we cant move in straight away.
We were lucky to sell our house here last year, so dont have that to worry about. Our stuff will be shipped at the beg. of June, but we got rid of masses when we sold the house, so not much to go really.
It will therefore probably be an unfurnished property. But we will see,

Glad to here there are a few people heading the same way as us to the sunshine coast - it is a lovely part of the world that doesn't seem to have been invaded as much as some of the other places we visited in OZ, seems quite unspoilt. The only thing that worries me is the lack of jobs, if it comes to the crunch and we have to get jobs in Brisbane does anyone know how far it is to travel from the Buderim area????

Hi Bec,
Not many large bits of furniture. One large bookcase, one medium bookcase, 2 computer desks, 1 futon, 1 double bed that is flat packed. Chest of drawers, computer, 4x TV s etc...... Thats about as exciting as it gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had a great rep. from PSS giving a quote today and was even brought round to not taking our chiminea (which we love)
It was so good having a clearout when we sold the house. You dont realise how much rubbish you collect over the years. How about you?

I know what you mean. we have submitted our tra to the agent and are going ahead with the visa, which means we have to get into the attic this weekend to find my certificates (the agents want me to provide proof that I have been educated in english)
I am dreading it as I hoard everything and I mean everything. My OH is going to go mad when he sees how much crap I am hiding up there;)
us girls have a knack of telling the old porky pie now and then about "oh I've had that ages". But, i dont think that is going to work this time. Never mind, it will give me a chance to be ruthless and finally get rid of some stuff.
If we get a visa we would like to end up on the sunshine coast too, so you'll have to stay in touch.

we filled a full size skip to get the house on the market. only two of us, no kids. to make matters worse, we will have to hire another one in a few weeks when we head off!

Hard to make definate plans really until we are there and visit areas. Sunshine coast still top of the list though!!!
How old are your kids? Jx

You'll have no problems as a nurse as the Permanent Resident visa implies they are short of them.

Even if you come without a job you should get one with in weeks of getting here and that gives you a chance to find your feet first. What area of nursing where you in again?

Hi Ann,
That is what Ive decided to do, wait until I get over there, and then contact one of the hospitals who Ive already emailed. Really want to get settled first and the Manager I have emailed said they are always looking for casual staff, so may be a good way to find a permanent position. Just means hubby will need to find work first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best Wishes Jackie

You may find it is the other way around as you will get a job on all the paperwork you have already submitted once you get your QLD registration sorted, on the other hand your hubby may have to prove he is a bricklayer despite already being checked out. Lot of people with manual trades take a few weeks to get sorted out.

He may have to be the house husband while you work.
