The Official Queensland Thread

Well just thought I would jump on the bandwagon as I'd noticed that threads for other parts of OZ were popping up and I was feeling all excluded:(

Only Joking

Anyway there is myself, hubby and 2 children boy-10 and girl-4. Once we have our visa we hope to live within 30-40 mins of Brisbane CBD! Have researched Redcliffe, Northlakes, Coomera, Upper Coomera but will make no decisions untill we are out there and have had a chance to look properly.

We sent our app in Jan so are just playing the waiting game. We def plan to be over by next Jan but not 100% sure of when yet.

Andrea:) xx

Hi Andrea,

I'll join in your thread, as you say we were a bit left out

We're heading to south east Queensland, not definite on exactly where yet same as yourselves, at the moment Pacific Pines is top of the list.

We're hoping to go either end of Aug of beginning of Sept.

Oh and we're also a family of 4, we have 2 boys 15 and 9.

It's the Gold Coast Andrea :)

yep we have the golden ticket, or should I say orangey/pinky colour  we got 'IT' 1st feb

Pacific Pines isn't far from Coomera, we went last August and had a good look everywhere. Loved North lakes, but unsure about OH's work there. Have you been?

SE Queensland generally includes the area around Brisbane and the Gold Coast down to the NSW border. Hope this helps :)

No just gona bite the bullet and go;) Whats the worst that can happen after all its only a 24 hr flight  Congrats on visa we have a bit of a wait yet I'm sure but hopefully it will all be worth it.

I really fancy living closer to the Goldcoast than sunshine coast, but we've decided to look at both sides and see once we are there! Hopefully we will get some good advice and be able to list all pro's n cons as want to get it right first time if poss:rofl: Our son wants to learn to surf lol, so needs to be a good surfing beach nearby to.

Coomera seems a good option on paper as its only 30 mins by train to CBD and hub will most def have to work there. As I said we'll see.

What did you make of Northlakes? Is it very like stepford wifes? I get the impression people either love it or hate it!

We are looking at moving to Brisbane or the Gold Coast as well. We are only doing the TRA at the moment so have a long way to go and don't know when we will get there but hopefully it won't be too long.

My husbands family live on the Gold Coast and we have visited the area and really liked it. There is just my hubby and me going as we don't have kids.

We're (me, OH girl 8 and boy 6) off to Queensland too - got our visas in November but OH got a good contract til May so we're going in June. Also want to live with a max 40 min commute from CBD and currently favouring bayside particulalry Birkdale and Thornlands as want a reasonable plot of land, however haven't ruled out North Lakes, Mango Hill, Petrie, Albany Creek, Pacific Pines or anywhere really. We have been to Brisbane but were not really looking at where to live at the time and it was 4 years ago. Really hoping somewhere stands out for us when we get there. We've booked a total of 5 weeks accommodation with the hope that will be long enough for us to decide on a good place for a longer term rental.

Gold coast here, we should be flying within 8 weeks. My head is spinning reading about suburbs and the property markets there. We have friends in pacific pines but I can't decide where I like the look of.
