Re: The Official Queensland Thread
hi to everyone.
we have just submitted our tra, so we have a long wait yet. but just wondering - a little question to all you gold coasters. what is so great about GC? It sounds great, but I dont think you can second guess somewhere without being there. I must admit reading this thread with places like Coomera Waters and Pacific Pines sounds bloody lovely to me.:D bec |

We're (me, OH girl 8 and boy 6) off to Queensland too - got our visas in November but OH got a good contract til May so we're going in June. Also want to live with a max 40 min commute from CBD and currently favouring bayside particulalry Birkdale and Thornlands as want a reasonable plot of land, however haven't ruled out North Lakes, Mango Hill, Petrie, Albany Creek, Pacific Pines or anywhere really. We have been to Brisbane but were not really looking at where to live at the time and it was 4 years ago. Really hoping somewhere stands out for us when we get there. We've booked a total of 5 weeks accommodation with the hope that will be long enough for us to decide on a good place for a longer term rental.
If looking for land at reasonable price don't forget Cashmere, Kurwongbah, Samford, Dayboro, Whiteside all around the North West area of city but out of the main housing hudle and plenty of land or acerage with established houses available. As for peoples comments about North Lakes it is like any other new housing estate you find South or North of city but has reasonable shopping centre and schools and close to city still and Bruce Highway if a new house rings your bell. QLD is still the place to be never mind the rest of Aus, I would say that the main thing that influenced our final choice was the commute to work so rent first if possible and get the job then buy where makes sense for work and school. |
