Re: NO-NO's for the container

Our timeline from midlands UK to Brissie
Sent on the 19th Feb
landed 27th March.
It took 1 week just to get off the ship and cleared by customs.

Then it went to the removal depot (crown warehouse) on the 3rd April.

and yesterday 7th May we had a call that it was cleared by quarantine and ready to deliver on Saturday10th May:D:D Hooraahhhh!!!!

We never envisaged it taking so long:(.With ours it was the wait for quarantine to clear it!
(amost 3 months:eek:)
I'm sure everycase is different but don't build yourselves up to expect it there quickish!!!!!

oh, and ours was a simple container with no tools, motorikes, whicker etc...so that made no difference!

Crown told us when it arrived in their warehouse it would be 15-20 WORKING days until AQIS inspected it - in the end it was prob just over 20 working days, but that was the average in brisbane at the mo - sure it varies port to port - but don' expect it straight away for sure...we sent ours 3 weeks before we left to minimise being without this end and it still took 2 months since landing to get it..

Thanks sammyg. We're sending ours 6 weeks before we go - and I thought we'd only have to wait 2 extra weeks at the most :(

Anyone know what the average wait is for Melbourne?

OMG!!!! Mine should be arriving the first week in July. Do you think they would give me a time estimate if I emailed them?

I doubt they'd be able to - depends how much other stuff comes in around the same time, and what the workload for Customs is like. July should be better than Chrsistmas though. :)

Has anyone else taken a dried flower arrangement? I had my wedding bouquet dried and framed thinking I could take it with me but from some of the comments it doesn't sound like I will be able to.

Just noticed what you'd written here. Did you manage to find out the answer to this? I've done the same with my wedding bouquet but had it freezedried and framed. Obviously would really like to take this with me.....

That's great, hadn't thought of that, I've just contacted woman who did my bouquet, hopefully she can provide something.

Re: NO-NO's for the container

two things!

My brother brought a bodhran back with him last time and had no problems with it. I think because it's obvious that the goat skin has been treated before use. They did comment that there were a few hairs still attached to the skin so maybe have a look and trim off any obvious ones. He also brought a few hurleys with him, the lady asked him if they were weapons!!

Second, my sister dried my wedding bouquet and made it into a box picture with stills from the wedding etc. I take it these can't come as they weren't freeze dried?? Could I mail it to my brother instead? I really don't want to leave this behind
