Without Aussie experience no one gives a shit. Doesn't matter if you were a senior manager oveseas in many times you haev to start from the bottem again.

Local experience would be really important if the standard of softwares in this country was better than elsewhere, which is really not. the projects that I have seen in my 1st week of work, they contain such silly bugs that would get any developer fired in an instant around the world. and some of the structure and standard of coding makes me laugh. Actually this industry has things to learn from outside world, not block off....talking about agents this is a mail from a very highly placed IT person in one of the largest MNC's in Sydney whom I asked about the game.there is nothing to be said after this mail..

Even if established company advertise a job, they advertise it directly and they pay very little salary.
IT scene is very bad here and one has to be careful about the agents.
Best thing is to be careful and donn't get frustated, it will not help.
Just prepare some topics and make some fake experience and carry on and keep trying.
Donn't be honest and polite, just be crook and confident."

I am really not sure why you are providing us with this badly worded and inarticulate message you got from your, er, "highly regarded" friend in IT. They can barely string a sentence together so take it with a pinch of salt.

well I didn't post for a long time in this thread, but just saw a lot of new posts. U might not be aware that there are many jobs in the world which needs skills rather than english. You have to be honest with honest people and crude with the people that plays with your trust. It is as simple as that.

shuvo I recon you should calm down mate as all this is not going to help you. Just accept the job market for what it is and learn to work around it, just like everyone else.

I have to say if things are soooooo bad here, I'm amazed at the number of people, on here alone, who have work in IT and how many sub continent migrants are trying to get here. Doesn't seem worth it to me, perhaps you should go on the Immigration Forum and tell them all to stop bothering. Would hate for anyone else to be as unhappy or unlucky as you.

I reviewed some code last week, written by an Australian, that was very high quality. Using your "logic" I now declare the standard of all software development around Australia to be of an exceptional standard leading the whole world

Absolutely nothing wrong with warning people that you may not fall into a job immediately but to knock the entire country (as it appears to me) because it took you two weeks to find a job and you've discovered some shonky recruitment agencies seems at tad ott to me.

We want and need to have the negatives just as much as the positives but both have to be put in context. Not over dramatic or countrywide generalisation, that doesn't help anyone.

Yes the Negative is the Agents and the Positive are the Companies, who do call for interviews and don't grinn for local experience...so I wanted to guide the people on the right path, if it was a mistake forgive me man...I am sorry. Hundreds of people in other forums appreciated this same post and encouraged me to share more experience. Sorry dudes, its your fault that you don't want your forum to be useful. People are free to reply to your thread if they wish to, thats what forums are all about. I suggest that if you feel so strongly that you are being "bullied"just cos people don't agree with you, and you feel you are more appreciated elsewhere, that you go and post elsewhere.

You've just quoted my post saying we need negatives just as much as positives. Why are you now saying we don't want the forum to be useful? Which part of my post did you not understand?

You have had a slightly negative experience which is very useful for new migrants to know about. However you then turned it into a 'warning about ALL of Australia'. That's not factual and could put off new migrants who wouldn't suffer the same 'misfortunes' you have. Many IT professionals move here from India and every other country in the world, have no problems finding work so whilst yours is a worthwhile and necessary warning it is not a blanket, one size fits all problem. If you won't understand that then I can't make you.
