Don't move to Melbourne.

On another note, this is the so called better weather they have in parts of Germany/France etc. Europe flooding: Five dead as waters rise in Germany and France - BBC News

Yep, you missed the worst of it. QLD had a fairly lucky escape this time.

Have a good flight back.

I'd rather a few days of rain than 9 months of Vitamin D depleting cloud.

I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency when I lived in Australia. All that staying out of the sun and covering up in sunscreen. It is common in Australia.

I am skeptical of the London figures quoted...the figures in Beoz's initial link said Manchester is sunnier than London...sounds unlikely. Looking at data seems to suggest Heathrow has 15-20% more sun hrs than Manchester. Maybe the 'London' weather station is located on a foggy island in the Thames estuary??

Indeed London seems a bit low there. London will obviously have several weather stations, so Heathrow for example would see over 1600 hours.

Of course it will never be Australia, but the constant complaining that the UK doesn't see as much sun as the rest of Europe is nonsense and people seem to get on with their lives too.

Seems like a slither on the south coast gets more sunshine than "some" places in Germany. 4000 hours difference between Eastbourne and London. What's that 50 miles? Pity the bulk of the UK doesn't live in that south coast slither. The UK could change its rep for crap weather if they did.

Well even cities further North get around 1400/1500 so not much different to
cities in Germany for example.

A load of rubbish of course unless of a specific skin type. Get out there in the sun. Great for blood pressure, strengthen bones in older folk and a host of other health benefits. Besides creating a sense of well being.

Large parts of Britain have a decent climate for large parts of the year. Well three or four months at any rate. Not that the climate is necessarily much better in Australia for different reasons of course. Depending on preference. To tell the truth weather wasn't much of a concern in London. Far too much other things going on.
