Clayts, your pad is down

They've also started looking at both yours and ians driveway opening.

They've mostly done our driveway opening. We're not 100% happy at this stage but we will wait and see what it looks like when they have finished. I am a bit concerned that there is no longer an interlocking brick.

After:

It needs a couple days for the mortar to dry to really see what it is going to end up looking like.

I just thought I would let people know I bought a house in Charlottes Vineyard and have been in Ellenbrook for three months.I was quite worried about the move as we had to leave Woodvale as it was to expensive for us rather than wanting to.

Anyway it is very nice here there are lots of parks and nice places to walk.My 6 year old loves her school,Arbour Grove and my 13 year old after a very horrible start, crying when she came home from school has now settled in at Ellenbrook Collage.

There is a big shopping centre at Midland and the great thing about going there is passing horses, cows and sheep in the fields as I have really missed the countryside where I lived in England. There are also lots of great places to visit which we will do in the school holidays.

I see a lot of people are having houses built I will have to go and have a nose on one of my walks.Sue.

Good to see it's worked out for you guys. Always a worry when the kids have to start new schools but sounds like all has settled down.
Im wondering what sort of shops are being built at Ellenbrook. Haven't really looked into it yet but good to know that Midland isn't too far away.

Yeah i took a drive out there yesterday and saw the pad was down. Looks a lot bigger than i expected!! I noticed a few blocks have been marked for the driveway extensions. Will be interesting to see what you think once it has all dried out mate. I'm just hoping that they have pinned the walls otherwise it's hard to see how the new construction is as strong as the original with no interlocking.
You must be getting close to starting now i guess?

July/august next year I would think.

We have pretty much settled on the floor tile, we'll do the laminates on friday. That's all we have to do before prestart.

Our electrical plan changes aren't going to be cheap, we're estimating 2-3k for the changes... then if we do smart wiring add another 2.5-3k by the sounds of it.

At the moment we have Woolworths,Best and Less,The Dome and lots of small shops and fast food places, the pub is well under way.Bunnings is going to be built and the second phase of shops are being built another food shop maybe Coles and Big W.

The older part of Ellenbrook has a IGA which is handy on Sunday and a good fruit and veg shop.Sue.

I looked into the Telstra package for smart wiring etc but thought it was too expensive for what u get. Don't think u get any return on that money to be honest.
I added plenty of extra power points and made sure that i allowed for a few extra conduits in areas such as the theatre room for speaker cables etc and in the kitchen to allow for lighting in the cupboards. Also outdoor power points, never seem to have enough of those!! lol No doubt i will have missed certain bits n pieces.
I would think that u may get into the new house earlier than expected though. At least by the time they start building u will have the best weather and shouldnt really have any delays from that side of things. I was originally hoping for Xmas but the delay in the land titles buggered any chance of that.

I agree that the prices seem high for smart wiring. But for me, I can see benefits. I want to add another 3 coax points which will be around $500 by itself.

The data points would be nice, I run a HTPC at the moment so I would use the wired network to share my movie library around the house. From the testing I have done between HTPC and PS3 wireless doesn't work well.

All of the smart wiring packages I have seen IMO are over the top with their allocations per room i.e., theatre room specd with 4 coax and 2 data points! I don't think that many points are required, not when you're running HTPCs. 1 coax and 1 data per TV/HTPC will do the job for me. Run conduit and it can be revisited later if required.

I have allowed additional conduit in the theatre for speakers as well, I have also run conduit to all light switches, future alarm and A/C control panel locations etc etc. Haven't spec'd any outside power points yet and not sure if I will - I have never needed one yet. Have added a few to the garage.
