I wonder if they will do your wall whilst construction is going on...
7125 had the roof on and isn't far from lockup
We were out there on sunday inspecting the wall again before our meeting on wednesday. They've dressed the cut with some sort of finish, looks better than what it did. However a reasonable size crack has opened up top to bottom, both sides and a long the top at the mortar join in the corner... and it's only been backfilled and had a bob cat run over it.

Bit of a worry about the cracking appearing already. I know there is obvioulsy a lot of vibrations etc at the moment but those types of walls should obvioulsy be solid!! Good luck with the meeting, would be interesting to hear some feedback.

The meeting with the georgiou engineer this morning went well. We pointed out our issues - the cut and how it was finished as well as the interlocking - and for the most part he agreed with us.
He assured us the wall was structurally sound and could get a letter as such, and suggested the cracking could be remedied by putting mastic in the joint. When I asked what he would do, he said he would do the mastic first then if that didn't work pull the wall down and redo it. Might as well just redo it to begin with and just do the job properly.
He agreed with us about the finish and said it wasn't acceptable. He suggested it could be ground back but after looking at some other work on other blocks where they have ground bricks back it would probably be just as noticable, if not more. If they were building the wall from scratch the cuts would not be visible.
We suggested that, given the amount of wall that is there now, that they might as well just redo the entire section.
The finish they have done on the wall is some sort of oxidiser to get a consistent colour and admittedly it does clean the job up a lot.
He is going to speak to LWP and the contractors who are doing the walls and come up with some solutions. Will post up more when I know more.
Oh and apparently the whole subdivision is going to the 6m driveways.

We lived in Ellenbrook for 4 years, loved it at first, bought a house and everything, but unfortunately we got bored, it felt like the middle of no where, and yes Gnangara Road is extremely depressing to drive up and down every day and not to mention how much mileage it puts on your car! -after living there 4 years we craved civilisation, we were that desperate we ended up moving to the Gold Coast, it got that bad for us!!

Well we've managed to get LWP to rebuild our front and return walls. We pushed for them to rebuild the front as they applied an oxide finish to it - which ended up making that section of retaining wall a different colour to the rest of the wall on our lot and in the area.
Apparently it's being done today/tomorrow, will post up more when I know more.
Oh and we've got our contracts, will finish reading them tonight and then it's over to the builders. Council approval shouldn't be far away, the plans have been with them nearly 2 months now.

Several houses in the street seem to be flying along now which is good to see. My roof is under construction this week and hopefully should be completed early next month once the plumbers/sparkies have been through. Still waiting for the retaining wall to be relocated though.
Has anyone thought about what to do with all the excess sand from the gardens? I was looking at mine and thinking i need to remove quite a lot of sand and replace with soil for the garden beds etc. I wonder if next door wants some??? LOL

Not even looked that far ahead, this back garden is giving me nightmares we have blown the budget on the house so I think its just going to be a sandpit for a good while!
Might have to get myself a few deckchairs
