The UK has a higher unemployment rate, which is not a surprise right now, but it have employment diversity. This also helps bring the unemployment rate up.

I suppose your making some sort of point, but it's still half the unemployment rate in Perth, compared to the UK and I might be dead in 5 years time.

Yep, Perth is really far away, far way from going into recession.

Joking aside, you might be right, Perth might not be for us, but having moved 10,000 miles from the other side of the world, it can't be that hard to move to East Australia, should be a breeze.

Not too difficult, but expensive if you need to move all your stuff - will probably be similar cost to shipping it UK-Perth in the first place.

Looking at a furnished rental, all the furniture in the UKs tiny houses, don't fit so well in Australias huge houses.

Am I the only person on BE who had a decent size house in the UK?

It isn't the UK's fault you all chose to live in pokey little sh*tholes, it's your fault

Mine isn't too bad but still smaller than Oz houses I think.

Language wasn't necessary tho - pokey little houses are still peoples homes whatever the size!

My last couple of houses in the UK were far bigger than my first house in Australia.....and cost an awful lot less

Not all Australian houses are huge and not all UK ones are tiny

they bought them though, no point whining about it afterwards

anyway, Glasgow is full of old sandstone houses and flats with massive rooms throughout, it's the new build ones are small, so just don't buy them

Same here - Had a lovely 4 bed detached in Sussex and live in a small grotty bungalow here - Houses in my suburb are on large plots however, and now when an older one comes up for sale, they bulldoze it and build about 6 nasty little 2-3 bedders which are advertised as bargains from $450K upwards. I'm not getting it, who's buying them?

Furnished rentals are not the norm for general rentals. Holiday lets are available but you will find they are a lot more expensive. We brought all our stuff which fit fine and we have just added to it over the years.

so that means it will only make less than 50% of the population...
anyways, it doesn't matter if you have small houses as long as you own the place...
